Overview

Rebind is a keyboard-and-mouse remapping engine with scripting and an optional USB device for physical input output. It suits gaming users and developers who want programmable, app-specific controls. The free Engine is the straightforward choice; Link adds isolated hardware output, but its platform limits and backorder make it a more conditional purchase.

The Engine runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and software mode needs neither an account nor Link. Hardware attachment is limited to Windows and macOS; Linux capture is not implemented. That makes Rebind viable on Linux as software, but not as a Link-based peripheral setup.

Key features

Controls and gaming workflows

Rebind Engine combines keyboard and mouse remapping with sensitivity controls, macros, per-app controls, and per-game profiles. Chat macros and layered binds make it useful for game-specific input workflows, while profiles help separate settings by application or game. This is more flexible than a basic device-preset tool, but may be unnecessary for someone who only wants to configure a peripheral.

Scripting and integrations

The Engine runs Luau scripts and supports HTTP and WebSocket connections. Developers can connect through Luau or TypeScript, Python, and Rust clients, and Rebind's MCP server supports screenshots, keyboard and mouse actions, and script execution. These interfaces broaden its appeal beyond gaming, though they matter most to users building or automating workflows rather than making simple remaps.

Hardware output

Rebind Link provides physical USB keyboard and mouse output through an isolated capture environment, with a dedicated onboard processor and support for multiple devices. Its hardware mode supports up to 8,000 Hz USB report rate. That is the reason to pay for Link rather than use the free Engine, but the benefit is limited to Windows or macOS peripheral attachment.

Pricing

Rebind Engine

The Engine is free software with no trial clock, account, or Link requirement for software mode. It includes Luau scripting, keyboard and mouse remapping, macros, HTTP and WebSocket support, and RebindGPT, and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Free scripts without source protection can be installed as a guest. Paid marketplace scripts require signing in and purchasing with credits, so the no-account option applies to software mode and free scripts, not the paid marketplace.

Rebind Link

Link costs $199.00 USD one-time, with free shipping, and includes 12 months of Pro. It has permanent activation and no recurring device-license fee; its lifetime device license makes the hardware payment distinct from a subscription. The first batch is 50 units and the device is backordered, so it is not the right choice for someone who needs hardware immediately. The Pro entitlement lasts 12 months; the Engine remains free, but no ongoing Pro price or renewal terms are stated here.

Platforms

Rebind Engine installs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Link's hardware peripheral attachment requires Windows or macOS, and Linux capture is not implemented. Check that distinction before buying: Linux users can use the software engine, but cannot use Link for peripheral capture. Rebind is designed, assembled, and shipped in the USA.

Who it's for

Rebind fits users who want remapping, sensitivity controls, macros, and profiles across desktop operating systems, especially gamers who organize controls per game or developers who want Luau and client integrations. The free Engine is also a sensible starting point for anyone who wants to explore those workflows without buying hardware or creating an account. Link is for users who specifically need isolated physical USB output and can work on Windows or macOS; Linux users and anyone unwilling to wait on a backorder should stick with software or choose another product.

Pros and cons

Pro: The Engine is free and works without an account or Link in software mode, lowering the barrier to trying remaps and scripts.
Pro: Luau, HTTP and WebSocket support, multiple developer clients, and an MCP server give technical users several ways to connect workflows.
Pro: Link's one-time payment has no recurring device-license fee and includes 12 months of Pro.
Con: Link peripheral attachment is restricted to Windows and macOS, with Linux capture not implemented.
Con: Link is backordered, and the first batch contains only 50 units.
Con: Paid marketplace scripts require an account and credits, unlike guest installation of free unprotected scripts.
