Overview

The formulation module brings product design into a suite spanning commercial and industrial management, accounting and finance, payroll, and human resources. That breadth can connect formula decisions with downstream operations, but may be more than a business needs if it wants only a dedicated recipe tool.

Proginov was created in 1996 and is based in La Chevrolière, France. Its web applications connect directly to the ERP, exchanging real-time information through a browser, while an EAI feature manages data flows between the ERP and internal or external applications.

Key features

Formulation and ingredient data

Users can develop standard, simulated, and production formulas, set targets such as nutritional values and prices, and search for cost-effective formulas under constraints on raw materials, component characteristics, totals, and allergens. This is useful when product development must balance composition with cost and quality requirements rather than simply record recipes.

The module manages nutritional values and allergens and generates multilingual ingredient or component lists, including exclusions and grouped ingredients such as colourings. Integrated ingredient data can be reused in technical data sheets and supermarket or hypermarket catalogues, avoiding re-entry and helping keep product documents consistent.

Production and connected operations

Proginov supports bills of materials and production orders, can update production bills of materials automatically, and tracks batches and pallets. Recipe work can therefore carry into production and traceability instead of ending at product specification. The product also includes quality management, inventory management, and compliance records.

The listed ERP components include production, retail, web, CRM, finance, sales, WMS, HR, mobility, EAI, BI, EDM, and EDI. This range makes the suite a stronger fit for organizations looking to connect formulation with broader operational systems than for teams seeking a narrow formulation application.

Hosting and support

Proginov says its French data centres are ISO 27001 and HDS certified for hosting and managed SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS services. It describes encrypted communications, strong authentication, monitored and restricted facility access, and real-time backups across two data centres. Its private cloud availability rate is 99.999%, calculated over 10 years; SaaS includes round-the-clock software and technical support. These are relevant assurances for businesses relying on hosted operations, though they do not replace an assessment of a buyer’s own security and service requirements.

Pricing

Proginov ERP is paid, with custom pricing. There are no stated tiers to compare, so buyers should assess the full suite and its formulation, production, and hosting requirements when requesting a quote. It is a less direct fit for organizations that need a transparent entry price before engaging a supplier.

Platforms

Proginov ERP is available on Android, iOS, Linux, Windows, and the web, with API access and self-hosted deployment also supported. That combination accommodates browser-based access and organizations that need to connect applications or operate their own hosting environment.

Who it's for

The formulation module was designed originally for the food industry and is also suited to other formula-based industries. It is most relevant to manufacturers that need recipe targets, ingredient and allergen handling, production support, and batch traceability linked to a broader business suite. Businesses looking only for recipe development, without the surrounding ERP scope, should compare more focused tools.

Pros and cons

Formula-to-production workflow: formulas, bills of materials, production orders, and batch and pallet tracking connect product development to manufacturing.
Reusable product data: multilingual ingredient lists can serve technical sheets and retail catalogues without re-keying.
Broad operational scope: commercial, industrial, finance, payroll, HR, and integration components can support a connected system, but may be unnecessary overhead for a single-purpose formulation need.
Custom pricing: buyers can seek a tailored quote, but cannot compare a published starting price or plan limits.

Alternatives

Food Manufacturing Software is a useful category starting point for comparing tools aimed at food operations.

ERPNext is worth considering for buyers who prefer a freemium ERP with a free plan and trial; its Frappe Cloud Sites plan is 5.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for single-site hosting with managed upgrades and backups.

Aptean Industrial Manufacturing ERP Traverse Edition is a paid alternative with a free trial and pricing provided on request.
FlexiBake is a paid alternative with a Nutritional plan at 125.00 USD per month for nutrition analysis, labeling, costing, and CFIA and USDA compliance.
Infor Public Sector is another paid option with pricing provided on request.
TraceSense is a paid CMMS alternative whose Essential CMMS plan costs 295.00 GBP per month for up to 250 assets and five users.

Verdict

Choose Proginov ERP if you are a food manufacturer or other formula-led business that wants recipe development, ingredient data, production, and traceability connected to a wider ERP. Its main advantage is that operational continuity; look elsewhere if a standalone formulation tool or a published price is central to your decision.
