In their own words
projectM
projectM is an open-source music visualizer that turns audio input into visuals in real time. Its libprojectM library is intended for application development and reimplements Winamp MilkDrop, including support for user-contributed visualizations. The library analyzes PCM audio with beat detection and FFT, then renders visuals using OpenGL. Preset files define looks through pixel shaders and MilkDrop-style equations, but libprojectM does not include presets. The projectMSDL desktop frontend listens to audio input and produces visuals; standalone options are listed for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The library documentation lists builds for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android, and WebGL/WASM. The core library is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License 2.1. projectM is free and open source. Its available end-user frontends are development previews that may be incomplete or contain bugs, while Android apps linked by the project are not created or supported by projectM developers. Third-party integrations including Kodi, Silverjuke, and VLC are supported by their respective developers, not the projectM team.
Renderforest Music Visualizer
Renderforest Music Visualizer creates music visualization videos in a browser for platforms such as YouTube and Facebook. Its visuals synchronize with audio of any length, using templates with abstract patterns and animations that respond to the track. You can customize a visualization with text, logos, colors, and images, and add a personal watermark. The tool has waveform and spectrum visuals and supports video export, with a listed maximum resolution of 4K. The general unlimited video-duration allowance does not cover music visualizer templates. Free and pay-per-product users can upload files up to 30 MB; subscribers can upload up to 500 MB. The Free plan costs nothing and provides HD videos with a watermark and basic features. Lite costs $9 a month and includes five HD720 template exports, 400 AI credits monthly, and 10 GB of storage. Pro costs $24 a month; Business costs $49 a month. Renderforest also offers iOS and Android apps.
