Overview

QikKids is a management platform built for Kindergarten and out-of-school-hours care (OSHC) services. It suits providers that want attendance, administration and family access in one system, though choosing among its packages takes care because capacities and feature bundles vary.

Its scope runs from enrolment and lesson planning to billing, payments and family communication. Services can use it on the web, Windows and macOS, while iOS and Android apps extend access to staff and families. The Home parent app and web portal are included across plans.

Key features

Attendance and daily operations

Digital sign-ins, real-time attendance and headcounts address the daily need to track children as they arrive and move through care. Office Lite adds a real-time centre dashboard, contactless sign-ins, digital bookings and automated Child Care Subsidy (CCS) handling. QikKids Desktop & Kiosk covers CCS attendance management, sign-in and sign-out, headcounts, financial and attendance reports, and parent messaging. These options make the platform relevant to services with substantial check-in and reporting needs; buyers should compare the packages against their existing workflows rather than assume their similarly named products are interchangeable.

Enrolment and family access

Office Core adds child enrolment and management, custom enrolment forms, multi-service reporting and a child waitlist with custom filtering. That makes it a stronger fit than Lite for services managing admissions or more than one service; a provider focused mainly on attendance may not need the extra administration tools. Families can use the Home app and web portal on all plans, and mobile booking lets them manage additional casual sessions and absences.

Payments and workforce

QikKids supports recurring automatic payments and ad-hoc PayNow payments, covering both scheduled charges and one-off transactions. Office Essential adds rostering, workforce productivity insights, staff clock in/out and digital timesheets to Core. Essential also includes integrations such as Xero and Ento, API access and nightly SQL-table database backups. Those additions make it the more complete operational option for services needing workforce tools or connected systems, but services without those requirements may find Core a more proportionate starting point.

QikKids offers a support team and training resources, useful for services adopting a system that spans family and administrative workflows. Its security statement says the site is protected by reCAPTCHA and Google policies; that wording alone should not be treated as a broader description of platform security.

Pricing

QikKids has a freemium pricing model and a free plan, but its paid tiers are presented inconsistently: the page gives a starting price of $204 per month for Lite, while the named Lite, Core and Essential plans are also shown with localised monthly amounts of $204, $268 and $397 respectively. Prices exclude GST, and monthly and annual pricing options are shown. Buyers should compare the applicable quote and billing term before budgeting, especially because annual totals and any savings are not given here.

The Playground plans are grouped by capacity: 0–39 places, 40–69, 70–99 and 100+ places. Their prices are custom pricing. The Lite, Core and Essential feature bundles provide a clearer guide to fit: Lite covers the service dashboard, sign-ins, bookings, attendance and automated CCS; Core adds enrolment, waitlist and multi-service reporting; Essential adds workforce features, integrations, API access and database backups. All include the Home parent app and web portal. The cheaper Lite tier therefore makes sense when attendance is the priority, while Core is the more natural choice for enrolment and multi-service administration. Essential is best justified when its staff and integration tools are needed.

Capacity is also relevant: QikKids has a stated child capacity of 39, while the Playground tiers extend to 100+ places. Smaller services should confirm which capacity-based option applies to their needs rather than assume that a tier label establishes the number of children covered by every package.

Platforms

QikKids runs on web, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, with mobile apps for both major phone platforms. That range can accommodate services using desktop systems alongside families accessing the Home app, without limiting the service to a single operating system.

Who it's for

QikKids is a natural candidate for Kindergarten and OSHC providers that need attendance controls, family access and service administration together. The breadth from Lite through Essential lets a service choose between core attendance work and more involved enrolment, staffing and integrations. It is less compelling for a buyer seeking a single transparent, capacity-priced package: the Playground tiers use custom pricing, GST is additional, and the named plan prices should be confirmed against the chosen billing term.

Pros and cons

Broad service coverage: enrolment, family communication, attendance, billing and lesson planning sit within the platform, reducing the need to evaluate separate tools for each function.
Family access across plans: the Home app and web portal are included throughout, so family access does not depend on choosing a higher tier.
Useful attendance depth: digital sign-ins, live attendance and headcounts support daily oversight, with dashboard and CCS capabilities in Office Lite.
Higher-tier operational tools: Essential adds rostering, timesheets, integrations and API access for services that need more than check-in and enrolment.
Pricing needs confirmation: Playground tiers have custom pricing, displayed amounts exclude GST, and both monthly and annual options require buyers to verify the relevant commitment and total.
Package choice requires care: several product and plan labels describe different feature bundles, so services should establish exactly which capabilities their selected package includes.

Alternatives

cradleOS is worth comparing for a home daycare or small centre getting started: its free plan is aimed at those providers and includes digital check-in/out, records, messaging, invoicing, enrolment and reports. Kinderly is another freemium option; its Sprout plan is free forever for up to 10 active children and caps forms, packets, share links, website pages and document storage, which may suit a very small service more than QikKids' broader service-oriented tiers.

Kangarootime offers a free plan capped at one program, one school and five staff members, making it a candidate for a provider whose needs fit those limits. EdSkout has a 20-day free-access trial with kids management, attendance, activities, notifications, a food menu and basic reports; it suits readers who want a time-limited trial rather than a free plan.

CentreBloom is a paid, web-based alternative with a C$69-per-month plan for up to 15 active students and a C$119-per-month plan for up to 30, making its stated capacity tiers useful to compare against QikKids' custom-priced Playground options. EZChildTrack uses a monthly subscription based on program size and requires a quote, so it is another option when a size-based quote is acceptable.

LineLeader has a $65.00 USD per month offer per location for current and new NCCA members; compare it if that offer applies to your service. Procare has a $25.00 USD monthly home version for smaller centres and in-home providers, though classroom management is unavailable to in-home users.

Verdict

QikKids is a strong fit for Kindergarten and OSHC services that want attendance, family access and administration in one platform, with higher tiers adding enrolment, workforce and integration tools. Its main reason to choose is that operational breadth across web and mobile; its main reason to look elsewhere is the effort required to compare custom-priced capacity tiers and confirm what a quoted plan costs after GST.
