| Spec score · Database Backup Software | 8.4 (#8) | 8.7 (#6) |
| Agent architecture | A locally deployed agent performs database operations while the cloud handles metadata, authentication and coordination. | A lightweight Windows or Linux agent runs as a background service and connects the database server to the web account. |
| Automation | Recurring flows can be scheduled with timers and triggered through the UI, CLI or API. | It supports maintenance jobs, command-line execution from scripts or batch files, scheduled jobs and email notifications. |
| CLI | Quemsi publishes a CLI for Linux, Windows and Java 21 JAR execution, with --wait enabled by default. | SqlBak-CLI is a free beta command-line utility for SQL Server and MySQL backup, cloud transfer and restore. |
| Headquarters | The privacy policy gives Quemsi GmbH's postal address as Leopoldstraße 24, 12305 Berlin, Germany. | Hawthorne, New Jersey, United States |
| Licence | The public quemsi-agent repository identifies its licence as LGPL-2.1. | The terms describe SqlBak as proprietary SaaS software owned by or licensed to Pranas.NET, with no transfer of ownership to users. |
| Public API | The integration documentation defines a /api/v1 contract for snapshots, restores, execution polling and restore-action discovery. | The pricing page lists a public API in every plan, and the site links to an Apiary API reference. |
| Security | The architecture page states that agent-to-cloud communication uses TLS 1.3, agents use certificate-based mutual TLS, and SHA-256 checksums verify backup integrity. | The product page says backups are encrypted and uploaded directly from the server to the user's storage, bypassing SqlBak.com, and database credentials are encrypted and stored on the server. |
| Security controls | The architecture page states TLS 1.3, OAuth2 with JWT rotation, mutual TLS agent authentication, audit logging and SHA-256 checksums. | The provider says all plans use SSL, its servers are in a biometric-access and 24-hour-surveillance data center, and systems receive current security patches. |
| Storage integrations | The agent can use local paths, NAS or SAN storage, AWS S3 and Azure Blob Storage. | Destinations include local and network folders, FTP, SSH, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, Box, Backblaze B2, Yandex Disk, Amazon S3, Azure Storage and S3-compatible services. |
| Support | The Solo plan includes community support and the Enterprise plan includes priority support. | Professional and Standard list extended support, and the site invites users to contact the company with questions about SqlBak or signup. |
| Supported databases | The product lists MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server and MongoDB datasource support. | The service supports Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL and Amazon RDS SQL Server databases. |
| What it does | Quemsi provides tagged database snapshots, backup flows, restoration and timeline management through a web console. | SqlBak is a SaaS service for database backup, restore, server-availability monitoring, backup-result monitoring and server-health monitoring. |

In their own words
Quemsi
Quemsi is a hybrid tool for database backup and restore, with a web UI for tagged snapshots, timeline history, and one-click restoration. It supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB. Backup and restore flows can include custom steps such as stopping services or running scripts, and backups can go to AWS S3, Azure Blob, or local drives under the user's control. Its agent runs operations inside the user's infrastructure, while the cloud service handles metadata rather than database content. The agent is open source and can be audited, modified, or built from source. Agent-to-cloud communication uses TLS 1.3, agents use certificate-based mutual TLS, and SHA-256 checksums verify backup integrity. Agents are available for Windows, Linux, and macOS, and can also run as a Java JAR or Docker container. The free Solo plan costs nothing and includes unlimited databases, environments, and flows for one user, with community support.
SqlBak
SqlBak automates database backups and provides a web service for managing backups from multiple servers. It lists support for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Azure SQL, Amazon RDS for SQL Server, and MongoDB. Destinations include Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Microsoft Azure, S3-compatible storage, Backblaze B2, Box, Wasabi, Google Cloud, Aruba Cloud, Yandex Disk, FTP, local or network folders, and SSH. SQL Server tools include point-in-time recovery, full, differential, and transaction-log backups, automatic verification, compression, health monitoring, and one-click restore. The app runs as a background service on Windows or Linux servers; Docker and Raspberry Pi installation are also described. SqlBak says backups are encrypted and sent directly from the server to the user's storage, while database credentials are encrypted and kept on the server. The Free plan covers one server, two databases, and one month of backup history. Standard costs $6 a month per server, and Professional costs $9 a month per server. A 30-day trial of Professional features requires no credit card to start.
