In their own words
QuillBot
QuillBot is a set of AI tools for writing, communication, design, coding, and collaboration across platforms and formats. Its writing tools include paraphrasing, grammar and plagiarism checking, AI detection and humanizing, summarizing, and citation generation. The Free plan allows paraphrasing up to 100 words in two modes, with basic grammar and summaries plus limited access to humanizing and the AI Detector. The Premium comparison lists paraphrasing in 23 languages and translation into more than 40 languages. QuillBot offers desktop and mobile apps for macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS, alongside Chrome, Edge, and Safari extensions. Its desktop app can appear as a widget in apps including Slack, Notes, and Messages; Premium also lists a Word add-in. QuillBot says one subscription works across its apps and platforms, with Premium usable on up to 10 devices at a time. Team plans add writer-management dashboards and centralized billing, while Team Plan benefits include priority assistance and account-management support. The maker says QuillBot began in 2017 as a paraphrasing tool for English-language learners. The Free plan is available; no Premium price is listed here.
Summify
Summify turns PDFs, PowerPoint files, YouTube videos, and articles into structured insights, with options for flashcards, quizzes, and audio. Its iPhone app also accepts DOCX, TXT, MP3 or other audio, YouTube URLs, and web articles. After a summary, users can make Learn cards and quizzes; eligible plans add mind maps, audio lessons, or podcasts. The public beta has four free core lenses, including Study, while Contract and Exam Prep are paid-plan options. YouTube summaries depend on extracted transcripts, so a video needs available captions or a transcript. Summify extracts text on its servers and sends that text and prompts to configured third-party AI providers, including Groq and Google Gemini. Its privacy page says uploaded content is not sold, and the home page states that uploads use TLS 1.3 and files are processed in memory only. The service does not offer a marketed document library or long-term cloud storage product. Free allows 5 analyses/day. Scholar costs $4.99 a month and requires an.edu school email; Pro costs $7.99 a month. Subscriptions use Polar checkout and can be canceled anytime.
