In their own words
Ratatool
Ratatool is web software for food-service businesses managing recipes, costs, margins, production, supplies, inventory and food traceability. Users build recipes from supplier ingredients and sub-recipes, calculate ingredient costs, food cost and margins, and track supplier price history. The system can notify users when an ingredient reaches a critical threshold. Production planning turns required quantities into supplier orders, while inventory tracking, yield and portion scaling, menu profitability and ingredient price updates support daily operations. Traceability records can include allergens, nutrition labels, expiration dates and batch numbers. Ratatool says AI can scan invoices to help load initial data. Multi-site features support locations and employee permissions. Recipe documents can be printed and data exported to PDF, CSV and Excel; CSV imports and Stripe payment processing are described. The ESSAI plan is free for four recipes and 15 ingredients, with no subscription or credit card. STANDARD is billed 24 € per month annually; PREMIUM is billed 41 € per month annually.
reciProfity
reciProfity is cloud-hosted software for food costing, inventory control, and recipe management. It calculates recipe costs from ingredient prices and yield data, then suggests selling prices based on food-cost targets. Inventory reports cover on-hand stock, actual-versus-ideal variance, sales mix, and menu engineering information; offline mode protects data if Wi-Fi is lost during counts. Its recipe database handles nested prep and serving recipes, supplier ingredients, and more than 200 units of measurement with conversions. Integrated USDA nutritional data supports recipe nutrition calculations, and recipes can be tagged with allergens from ingredients. The system imports sales-mix files from POS systems that export XLS files, and lists integrations including Caterease, QuickBooks Online, Passport Accounting, Sage 100, PlateIQ, iControl, Accardis, and Upserve. Plans listed are Starter at $49 a month, limited to 10 recipes; Core at $82 a month; Operations at $99 a month; and Multi-Unit at $124 a month. A 30-day trial with the full Analyzer plan and support is offered.
