| Integrations | Redis Insight connects to Redis deployments including Redis Software, Redis Cloud, Redis Open Source, Azure Managed Redis, and Redis on AWS or GCP, and supports RDI pipelines. | The Valkey site lists managed or compatible offerings from Amazon ElastiCache, Google Cloud Memorystore, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Cache, UpCloud, DigitalOcean, and others. |
| Security | Redis Insight stores sensitive information such as database passwords and Workbench history locally, and Docker users can configure an encryption key for that information. | Valkey recommends restricting network access to trusted clients and provides ACL-based authentication and optional TLS for client connections, replication links, and the cluster bus. |

In their own words
Redis Insight
Redis Insight is a free developer tool for building, debugging, managing, and visualizing Redis data through a graphical interface and command line. Its Browser supports create, read, update, and delete operations, batch work, filtering, slow-log inspection, command profiling, and database analysis. Workbench provides Redis commands with syntax highlighting and autocomplete, including schema-aware assistance for Redis Search. Redis Copilot answers general Redis questions and helps construct search queries in natural language using the user’s data context. The tool connects to Redis Open Source, Redis Software, Redis Cloud, Azure Managed Redis, Azure Cache for Redis, and Redis deployments on AWS or GCP; it also supports RDI pipelines. It can run in a browser, as a desktop app, in Docker or Kubernetes, or on Amazon EC2. Custom visualization plugins are supported. Sensitive information, including database passwords and Workbench history, is stored locally; Docker users can configure an encryption key. Telemetry is opt-in, and Redis says collected telemetry is anonymized. The API is documented as available only when Redis Insight runs in Docker.
Valkey
Valkey is a free, open-source key/value datastore for caching, message queues and primary database workloads. It handles strings, numbers, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, bitmaps, hyperloglogs and other data types. Deployments can run as a standalone daemon or as a cluster, with replication and high-availability options. Lua scripting and module plugins can add commands and data types. Documented uses include caching database or API results, session tokens, rendered HTML, reports, leaderboards, matchmaking and AI or ML inference outputs. Installation is available from source, Docker, Homebrew or MacPorts on macOS, and package managers for Linux and BSD. Valkey runs on Linux and macOS and can be self-hosted or accessed through an API; Windows is not officially supported, though WSL installation is described for development. The Linux Foundation backs the project, which says it will remain open source. Security guidance covers ACL authentication, optional TLS and network restrictions. Protocols include RESP, TCP and Unix sockets.
