In their own words
RJ TextEd
RJ TextEd is a code and text editor for many programming languages, with tools aimed particularly at web development. It can work with Unicode text, source code, ASCII, and binary files. For HTML and CSS, it offers an integrated preview, spell checking, auto completion, validation, and templates. A document map, code explorer, TODO lists, symbols, and fast search help navigate projects. Its language-server client provides code completion, hover information, diagnostics, and symbol search; FTP and SFTP support lets users upload and edit remote files. Themes, colors, and panels can be customized. RJ TextEd is freeware, including for commercial use, and donations are welcome. It is listed for Linux and Windows; the maker says it has been tested on Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11, and that Linux use may work through Wine. Downloads include 32-bit, 64-bit, and portable versions, plus a version for Windows XP and Vista. Online help and a forum are available.
VSCodium
VSCodium is a community-built distribution of Microsoft's VS Code editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux desktop computers. Its binaries are licensed under MIT, and telemetry is disabled. The project aims to make the latest MIT-licensed VS Code version easier to obtain; users can also build from Microsoft's vscode repository. Project scripts clone the repository, create binaries, and upload them to GitHub releases. The editor supports extensions, a built-in debugger, remote development, and language servers. Installation routes vary by system: macOS has a Homebrew cask, while Windows supports Windows Package Manager, Chocolatey, and Scoop. Documented Linux packages or repositories cover Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, RHEL, Arch, Gentoo, and others. VSCodium is also available through Snap as Codium, Flathub as a Flatpak, and Nixpkgs, and it is pre-installed in Parrot OS. Windows code signing is provided free by SignPath.io with a SignPath Foundation certificate; a macOS certificate was provided by @daiyam. The project directs package-manager issues to the related repository.
