In their own words
RJ TextEd
RJ TextEd is a code and text editor for many programming languages, with tools aimed particularly at web development. It can work with Unicode text, source code, ASCII, and binary files. For HTML and CSS, it offers an integrated preview, spell checking, auto completion, validation, and templates. A document map, code explorer, TODO lists, symbols, and fast search help navigate projects. Its language-server client provides code completion, hover information, diagnostics, and symbol search; FTP and SFTP support lets users upload and edit remote files. Themes, colors, and panels can be customized. RJ TextEd is freeware, including for commercial use, and donations are welcome. It is listed for Linux and Windows; the maker says it has been tested on Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11, and that Linux use may work through Wine. Downloads include 32-bit, 64-bit, and portable versions, plus a version for Windows XP and Vista. Online help and a forum are available.
Zed

Personal is free forever and includes 2,000 accepted edit predictions; it also allows unlimited use with API keys or external agents. Pro costs $10.00 per month, includes unlimited edit predictions and $5 of tokens, and bills usage beyond that allowance at API list price plus 10%. The Pro trial lasts 14 days or until its $5 balance is used, with no credit card required. Editing tools include extensions, multi-cursor and column editing, and macro recording; the editor also supports a built-in debugger, remote development, and language servers. Native Git operations include staging, commits, pulls, pushes, and viewing diffs. Users can chat with teammates, code together, and share screens and projects. Supported model providers include Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic, GitHub Copilot, Google AI, and OpenAI; the extension ecosystem has hundreds of extensions. Business costs $30.00 per month and has no minimum seat count. SSO, SAML, and SCIM are planned but not currently available.
