In their own words
Rocky Linux
Rocky Linux is a free, open-source enterprise operating system designed for bug-for-bug compatibility with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It rebuilds sources directly from Red Hat Enterprise Linux and supports migration from other Enterprise Linux distributions. The project describes it as production ready and gives major releases a 10-year support lifecycle: five years of active support followed by five years of security support. Only the latest minor release is supported. Images are available for physical installation, cloud platforms, containers, and Windows Subsystem for Linux, among other formats. Rocky Linux 10 supports x86-64-v3, riscv64, aarch64, ppc64le, and s390x, though architecture support varies by release. It uses DNF for package management and upgrade commands, with RPM packages in a RHEL-compatible software environment. Rocky Linux 10 requires x86-64-v3 on x86_64 and omits 32-bit compatibility packages. Major-version upgrades are not supported, so moving to Rocky Linux 10 requires a fresh installation. Community and commercial support options are listed.
Ubuntu Server
Ubuntu Server is a Linux operating system for enterprise data centers, public or private clouds, Kubernetes clusters and render farms. It can be deployed on physical servers, virtual machines, cloud instances and IoT or edge devices. The server page describes a lean initial deployment, integrated deployment and application modeling tools, and hardware OEM certification.
LTS releases receive five years of standard security updates for thousands of open-source packages in the Ubuntu Main repository. Ubuntu Pro extends LTS security maintenance to ten years, with a Legacy add-on extending it to 15 years. Pro also includes kernel live patching, security hardening features for named compliance frameworks, and Landscape fleet management. Ubuntu Server is available for Intel or AMD 64-bit systems, ARM, IBM POWER, IBM Z and RISC-V. Listed installation requirements are 1.5 GB of system memory, 5 GB of free disk space and a USB port or DVD drive for installer media. The server itself is free; Ubuntu Pro Workstation costs $25 a year per machine.
