Overview

Veryfi extracts data from invoices, bills, purchase orders, checks, receipts, business cards, contracts, tax forms, bank statements, and other unstructured documents. Receipt and invoice extraction includes line items across 91 currencies and 38 languages, which suits expense and finance operations spanning multiple markets. RESTful APIs and SDKs return structured JSON; Markdown is also an export format.

Each API transaction covers one document of up to 15 pages. Longer documents require a custom account configuration, so teams processing lengthy files should resolve that requirement before committing. The maximum file size is 20 MB, and scanned PDFs are supported.

Key features

API and capture options

REST APIs and SDKs make Veryfi a practical choice for embedding extraction in existing applications. Veryfi Lens adds native iOS capture with Swift and Android capture with Kotlin, plus wrappers for Cordova, React Native, Flutter, Xamarin, and Ionic. A browser camera option extends capture to web applications. This range is useful when users submit documents from different devices, though teams that only need a simple batch-processing endpoint may not benefit from all the capture options.

Integrations and security

Integrations include QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, Saasu, Slack, Box, Rippling, Zapier, and Google Drive. That gives finance and operations teams several routes to connect extraction with accounting and workplace tools. Veryfi states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and compliant with GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and PIPEDA. It uses TLS 1.2 and 1.3, salted password hashing, and AES encryption at rest and in transit, and says automated processing keeps humans from gaining unauthorized access to customer data.

Veryfi offers 99.995% uptime and publishes real-time status for its web and API services. A Fraud Detection Suite is available as an add-on for real-time prevention at the point of entry; organizations that need it should account for the add-on separately from the base plan.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and includes up to 100 documents per month, all document types, limited storage, and email support. It is a useful way to evaluate document coverage or handle light volumes, but the monthly cap and limited storage constrain sustained production use.

Starter costs 500.00 USD per month, billed at a $500/mo minimum commitment. It covers fewer than 5,000 documents per month, all document types, limited storage, and email support. This is the paid entry point for a team with recurring volume, but the commitment is a steep step from the free allowance, and the plan's document ceiling and limited storage may not suit growing workloads.

Growth has custom pricing and includes all document types, unlimited storage, custom data retention, model training, SLA options, SAML SSO, and email and Slack support. It is the more appropriate tier for organizations that need those retention, training, support, or access-control options. A 14-day trial is available; Free and Starter both provide limited storage, while Growth removes that constraint.

Platforms

Veryfi supports Android, iOS, web, and API use. The native mobile Lens options and browser capture provide ways to collect documents across those platforms, while the API supports integration into other software.

Who it's for

Veryfi is aimed at teams in fintech, consumer packaged goods, healthcare, construction, and other industries that process recurring paperwork. It is particularly suited to finance and expense workflows where invoice or receipt line items, broad currency and language coverage, and connections to accounting tools matter. A business with low volume, occasional use, or many documents longer than 15 pages should weigh the free cap, Starter commitment, and custom configuration requirement carefully.

Pros and cons

Broad document coverage: It handles common financial records as well as contracts, tax forms, bank statements, and other unstructured documents.
Detailed receipt and invoice extraction: Line items across 91 currencies and 38 languages suit cross-market expense and finance processes.
Flexible capture and integration: Mobile and browser capture, SDKs, and a broad integration set can fit into varied application workflows.
High paid-entry commitment: Starter's $500/mo minimum is a significant cost threshold for teams not processing recurring volume.
Document constraints: Transactions stop at 15 pages and 20 MB; longer documents need a custom account configuration.
Limited lower-tier storage: Both Free and Starter have limited storage, which may be restrictive for teams retaining a growing document archive.

Alternatives

Doxis AI.dp is worth considering for teams that prefer pay-as-you-go usage billed monthly and €25.00 worth of free credit rather than a $500 monthly minimum.

Transkribus is another freemium option, with API, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows platforms; it may suit teams looking for a different platform mix.

Nanonets Accounts Payable Automation may fit accounts-payable teams that need a web and API service with a paid-usage option priced at $100.00 USD per month for 100 credits.

Baidu OCR is a paid alternative with Android, iOS, API, Linux, self-hosted, web, and Windows support, including a 330.00 CNY one-time package for 10万点 Image with 12-month validity.

Cloudmersive OCR API may be preferable for low-volume evaluation: its free tier provides 600 calls per month, a 1-call-per-second limit, and a 3.5 MB maximum file size, with no expiration.

Instabase offers API, self-hosted, and web platforms, with a free trial including $5 of usage or 500 consumption units, ending when those units are used or after 92 days.

Yandex Vision OCR charges per unit for printed text recognition, with each image or PDF page charged separately and only successful requests billed; it may suit workflows that prefer page-based charging.

Amazon Textract AnalyzeExpense is an API and web option with an AWS Free Tier for new customers covering up to 100 Analyze Expense API pages per month for three months.

Verdict

Choose Veryfi API when a product or operations team needs structured extraction across varied business documents, especially receipts and invoices with multilingual line items, and can make use of its capture and integration options. Its strongest reasons to buy are that breadth and its stated security and uptime commitments. Look elsewhere if the workload is small, storage is central on an entry plan, or documents routinely exceed 15 pages: the Starter minimum and custom configuration requirement make those cases harder to justify.
