In their own words
Screenplay Assistant
Screenplay Assistant turns plain prose or dictated scenes into screenplay pages in a browser, arranging material into scene headings, action, character cues, dialogue, parentheticals, and transitions. Its writing modes range from formatting that preserves the writer’s words to line editing and adding action and imagery without introducing events, characters, or conversations. Story Map supports planning, Story Lab offers craft guidance, Muse acts as a first reader, and Atticus answers in-app questions. Users can import plain text, PDF, Word, and Final Draft files and export to PDF, Final Draft, Word, or plain text. Other tools include character portraits, design sheets, storyboards, graphic novel pages, scene video, Table Read, and production reports. Writing is not capped on any plan, though project and media allowances vary. It runs on Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. Spark is free forever and includes one project. Writer costs $7 a month, or $5 a month billed yearly ($60 a year).
ScriptDraft
ScriptDraft is screenplay software for writing, formatting, and exporting scripts on Android and iOS phones. Its cloud AI can turn a scene description into formatted Fountain screenplay text and organize spoken or typed ideas into scene headings, action lines, and dialogue. Writing, editing, and formatting work offline, while AI scene improvement and cloud translation require an internet connection. The app supports writing and voice recording in more than 100 languages, plus offline Romanized-to-native transliteration for 15 Indic abugidas. Export formats are PDF, Fountain, and Final Draft FDX. Free PDF and FDX exports carry a small ScriptDraft watermark; Fountain exports do not. The site says phone speech recognition processes audio on-device and does not upload audio to its servers. The free plan is listed at free, with no trial or expiry, and no account is needed to start. Pro is listed at $3.99 a month or $29.99 a year and includes 30 voice takes and 300 AI credits per month, cross-device sync, tablet layouts, and iCloud and Google Drive backup. One-time voice packs are also listed, from $2.99, paid once.
