Session Buddy vs TabTabTab

Session Buddy is a free Chrome extension for saving and restoring browser tabs, managing bookmarks, and organizing browsing. Users can save complete sessions or selected tabs, then restore them to their original windows, one window, or the current window. Its history view can restore tabs from an earlier point. Collections organize bookmarks, while unified search covers open tabs, collections, and tab history. Tabs and collections can be imported or exported in more than 15 formats, including JSON, CSV, Markdown, and HTML. Version 4.1 added automatic local backups, alongside manual backup and restore. Collections, history, and settings remain on the device rather than external services. The extension requests browsing-history permission but says it cannot read webpage content or form entries. The Free plan costs nothing and requires no account. Cross-device sync is not available.

TabTabTab is a free Chrome extension for organising browser tabs across windows. It presents pinned, grouped, and standalone tabs in one list and lets you rearrange them by drag and drop. Tab groups and entire window sessions can be saved and restored, while automatic grouping works by domain or subdomain. The extension can alert you to duplicate tabs, merge windows, track tab access time, copy URLs, capture screenshots, search tabs, and clean up automatically. A side-panel overview and dark mode are included. The Chrome Web Store lists the extension with 3,000 users. The project’s public GitHub repository uses the MIT license, and the developer says the extension will not collect or use user data. Support information points to a desktop-browser support page and GitHub Discussions for questions, suggestions, and bug reports. The listed Free plan costs nothing, with no paid tiers or usage limits stated.
