SkyORB

SkyORB is an astronomy app for exploring the sky, the Solar System, and astronomical events. SkyORB ∞ combines a real-time 3D planetarium and sky chart with augmented reality, so astronomical information can be viewed over the surroundings. Its event calendar and notifications cover occasions including meteor showers, eclipses, sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset. The app also tracks satellites and provides information about planets, asteroids, and deep-space objects. SkyORB Classic includes a star catalog, an interactive map with multiple projections, meteor-shower forecasts, and solar and lunar data. The maker lists Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows; SkyORB ∞ is also listed for Apple Watch and tvOS. SkyORB Classic is free. SkyORB ∞ for iOS, tvOS and Apple Watch is $4.99, paid once, and SkyORB ∞ for Mac is $6.99, paid once.

Star Chart

Star Chart is an astronomy app for viewing the night sky and exploring the solar system. It uses GPS and a three-dimensional universe model to calculate the real-time positions of stars and planets visible from Earth. Its guide includes all 88 constellations, with artwork based on the work of 17th-century astronomer Johannes Hevelius. On AR-capable mobile devices, an augmented-reality view overlays the sky in the user’s surroundings. A separate VR version simulates exploration of the solar system from the Sun to Pluto; the Cardboard version requires a Cardboard viewer. Star Chart is available for Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows, and supports offline access. The free edition includes in-app upgrades. Escapist Games develops and publishes games for smartphones, tablets, and consoles, and provides contact details for feedback and feature requests.
