Songkeeper Studio
Songkeeper Studio is a songwriting app for guitarists who want to keep recordings, lyrics, chords, and practice tools together. A song can hold multiple recordings for playback and multiple drafts that can be copied, moved between songs, renamed, or deleted. Guitar tools include chord diagrams, a chromatic tuner, tuning options, and chord transposition. The writing editor offers word suggestions, rhymes, a music keyboard, tablature stamp mode, and trackpad cursor control. For practice, users can set a tempo, use a metronome or drum loops, and enable tempo-based autoscroll. Reference videos can be linked and played in the built-in YouTube player. The free Basic plan costs nothing and allows five songs, two drafts and two recordings per song. Pro costs $0.99 a month and adds unlimited songs, drafts, and recordings, Cloud Vault, sharing, collaboration, import, and export; it includes a 7-day free trial. The app runs on Android and iOS. Songs are also stored locally, and the site warns they can be lost if the app is uninstalled or the phone is lost.
Udio
Udio generates songs from prompts describing a style, mood or theme, and each prompt produces two songs. Listed clip lengths are 32 seconds or 2 minutes 10 seconds. The Create page provides sliders and fields for refining tracks, experimenting and generating variations. Its library has search, filters, favorites, playlists and a trash bin for recovering deleted songs, while the player can share songs. Udio offers vocal generation and audio upload, but audio downloads—including stems—are disabled. Paid subscribers can upload audio for extending, inpainting, remixing, stylizing or editing in a waveform-focused Session editor; uploaders must own the rights, and commercial or copyrighted tracks are not allowed. The service is available on the web and iOS. The iPhone app supports track extension but not uploading, remixing, inpainting, styling or title-based song search; Udio says there is no Android app. Free service includes 10 daily and 100 monthly credits. Standard costs $10.00 per month, and Pro costs $30.00 per month.
