Soundslice vs TabMaker

Soundslice combines sheet music, audio, and video in an interactive player for music practice, teaching, and transcription. Practice tools include tempo changes that preserve pitch, looping, part muting, transposition, speed training, and a metronome with count-in. Its web-based notation and tab editor supports creating scores from scratch and editing imported ones, with basic use available for free. Users can import MusicXML and Guitar Pro files or scan sheet music from PDFs and photos, subject to plan limits. Notation can be synced with YouTube, uploaded MP3s or video, and supported Vimeo or Wistia videos, depending on plan. Teacher supports private courses, student performances, and private feedback, with 100 students included. Licensing lets organizations embed the player in a site or app. The Free plan includes unlimited slices and two scan pages monthly, limited to one page and 32 bars per scan. Plus costs $5 a month, billed at 5 USD monthly or 50 USD yearly, and includes 100 scan pages monthly. Soundslice is available on Android, iOS, and the web.

TabMaker is a browser-based tool for creating, organizing and managing tabs for guitar, bass, ukulele and banjo. Its AI can turn microphone-recorded guitar riffs into tabs, or process MP3 and M4A files up to 6 MB in Quick Tabs, Enhanced Tabs or Chords Only modes. A separate Guitar & Bass to MIDI tool converts MP3 recordings into standard MIDI files with detected notes and musical properties. The browser app supports tab and standard notation, and plays tabs with acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass or banjo sounds. Tabs can be exported as PDF or ASCII text, printed in the browser or shared through a viewing link. The free plan costs nothing, requires no registration and stores tabs in browser localStorage; cloud storage is included with paid subscriptions. Monthly subscription costs $3.99 a month, or annual subscription costs $34.99 a year. The iOS app adds cloud saving and exports including PDF, MP3, MIDI and text.
