In their own words

SSvid

SSvid is a video and audio downloader for macOS, Windows, Linux and Android. It supports YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Vimeo, Reddit, Dailymotion, SoundCloud, Pinterest and more than 1,000 other platforms. Downloads range from 144p to 4K and can be saved as MP4, WebM, MP3 or M4A, including video-only or audio-only output. Playlist, subtitle and batch downloads are supported. The app includes a browser that can intercept videos with one click, while downloads can pause and resume after closing the app. The free plan costs 0.00 USD forever, requires no signup and allows five downloads per day. Paid passes are one-time payments with no automatic renewal: 10.00 USD for seven days, 15.00 USD for 30 days, 25.00 USD for 90 days and 42.00 USD for Lifetime. Premium removes the parallel-download limit and includes a Gemini assistant for questions, summaries and subtitle translation. SSvid says it has no tracking, ads, data collection or cloud uploads.

yt-dlp app

yt-dlp app is a desktop interface for yt-dlp that lets users download media by pasting a URL instead of entering terminal commands. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and supports more than 1,510 sites, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, Vimeo and Reddit. Downloads can reach 4K HDR or 8K when available. Users can preview playlists and channels, select items for bulk downloads, and download subtitles or batches. The app allows up to five concurrent downloads, with three as the default; the maker notes that aggressive simultaneous downloads can trigger temporary IP rate limits. Cookie import from several browsers can provide access to private, age-restricted or members-only content. HTTP and HTTPS proxies are configurable, and FFmpeg can merge streams or add subtitles, thumbnails, metadata and chapters. The maker says settings and history stay local, with no telemetry, cloud sync or account requirement. The app is free, but its download page says the official public release is launching soon while signed binaries are finalized.
