In their own words
StarCraft II Editor
StarCraft II Editor is a free tool for creating custom maps and mods for StarCraft II on Windows and macOS. It supports player-made tower defense maps, MOBAs, campaigns and competitive ladder maps. Custom campaigns can load one map after another and can be played through the StarCraft II Arcade. The editor includes Trigger and Data Editors for changing game assets and creating visual effects. In the Data Editor's Easy Mode, collections are grouped and selected fields appear in a customizable table. Galaxy Editor terrain tools support up to 15 cliff layers and shallow- and deep-water pathing. The Trigger Editor provides a GUI for working with data table instances. Mod packaging and script editing are supported, with formats including .SC2Map, .SC2Layout, Galaxy script and XML data. Blizzard's maps and mods guidance covers publishing creations on Battle.net. A Verify Bank trigger function checks whether a bank's signature is intact. The default server storage space for Arcade map creators is 300 MB.
