Overview

Tebex brings customizable webstores and in-game stores together with payment processing for items, subscriptions, season passes, and DLC. It supports more than 130 local and global payment methods and acts as Merchant of Record, calculating, collecting, and remitting sales tax. Fraud detection, chargeback handling, and end-to-end dispute management are included, as is PCI, GDPR, and sanctions compliance.

That combination can spare a game business from coordinating separate storefront, payment, tax, and dispute services. In return, Tebex charges a percentage platform fee on sales, including on its free plan. It cannot support projects selling physical goods or providing marketplace services, so it is not a general-purpose commerce platform.

Key features

Stores and integrations

Developers can integrate through Webstore Builder, Headless API, or Checkout API. Official game server plugins cover Minecraft, Hytale, Rust, ARK, and FiveM; FiveM also has a built-in native integration. This makes Tebex a particularly natural fit for operators in those communities.

Checkout API use requires prior compliance-team approval and is unavailable to some UGC creators, including FiveM and RedM creators. A project built around that route should confirm eligibility before committing; other integration options may be more practical if the API is out of reach.

Payments and operations

More than 130 local and global payment methods provide broad payment choice, while Merchant of Record service covers tax calculation, collection, and remittance. Tebex also handles fraud detection and chargebacks, manages disputes, and advertises 24/7 support for payment, integration, and technical questions. Those bundled responsibilities are valuable to lean teams, though they do not remove the platform fee.

Subscription billing and digital delivery support recurring offers as well as one-off digital goods. Tebex supports multi-channel checkout and payouts in nine currencies.

Pricing

Tebex is freemium, with a free plan, paid Plus options, and a 90-day Plus trial for new stores. The trial requires no payment details. Every listed plan includes unlimited packages, but Starter and Plus both charge a platform fee: 5% for most games and 15% for FiveM. The higher FiveM rate is a material cost for that community, regardless of whether a monthly subscription is added.

Plan	Price and terms	What it includes
Starter	£0 monthly fee	Unlimited packages; 5% platform fee for most games, 15% for FiveM.
Plus	£12.49/mo	Starter terms, plus custom templates, HTML/CSS editing, and custom domain support.
Plus prepaid — 3 months	£33.72 upfront for 3 months; 15% savings versus monthly	Tebex Plus.
Plus prepaid — 6 months	£63.70 upfront for 6 months; 15% savings versus monthly	Tebex Plus.
Plus prepaid — 12 months	£119.90 upfront for 12 months; 20% savings versus monthly	Tebex Plus.

Starter suits sellers who can work without the Plus storefront customization and domain options; the absence of a monthly fee does not mean fee-free sales. Plus is for operators who want to customize templates and HTML/CSS or use a custom domain. Prepaid terms lower the stated cost versus monthly billing but require paying upfront for the selected period.

Platforms

Tebex is available as a web service, API, and extension. Its official server plugins support Minecraft, Hytale, Rust, ARK, and FiveM, with a native FiveM integration as well. That mix serves both developers building a custom integration and operators using supported game communities.

Who it's for

Tebex is best suited to game-server operators and studios selling digital goods who value supported game integrations, multiple payment methods, and bundled tax and dispute administration. It is less compelling for FiveM sellers sensitive to a 15% platform fee, creators who need Checkout API access but cannot secure approval, or anyone selling physical goods or running a marketplace.

Pros and cons

Broad game coverage: Official plugins for Minecraft, Hytale, Rust, ARK, and FiveM make it relevant to established server communities.
Sales administration in one service: Merchant of Record tax handling, fraud detection, chargeback handling, and dispute management reduce the number of separate responsibilities a seller must arrange.
Many checkout methods: Support for more than 130 local and global payment methods gives buyers substantial choice.
Fees apply even on Starter: The 5% platform fee for most games, and 15% for FiveM, can weigh on sellers as sales grow.
Checkout API access is conditional: Prior compliance approval is required, and some UGC creators, including FiveM and RedM creators, cannot use it.
Narrow commerce eligibility: Physical-goods sellers and marketplace operators are outside Tebex's supported use cases.

Alternatives

For another Merchant of Record option, Coda has a free plan with personal documents unlimited in size and objects, while shared documents are limited to 50 objects and 1,000 table rows. Polar offers a free Starter plan at 5% + 50¢ per transaction, with all features to sell and standard support. These are worth comparing if their document or transaction terms better suit your needs.

Aquadratic has a free platform plan billed at 7% per transaction, with processor fees potentially additional and no monthly fee or per-transaction minimums. Fungies offers a free-forever plan billed at 5% + 50¢ per sale, with no monthly fee, setup cost, or per-seat charge and unlimited products, plans, and assets. Those pricing structures may suit digital sellers comparing transaction costs and product limits.

Breeze and Freemius are other options to consider; Freemius describes transaction pricing of 3.8% + 50¢ per transaction plus gateway fees, with no setup or monthly fees. Gumroad and Whop are also alternatives for creators comparing sales platforms.

Verdict

Choose Tebex if you run a supported game community and want storefronts, digital-goods checkout, and Merchant of Record tax handling together. Its game integrations and operational coverage are persuasive; the main reason to look elsewhere is the ongoing platform cut, particularly FiveM’s 15%, or a project that falls outside its eligibility and Checkout API rules.
