In their own words

Superwhisper

Superwhisper turns speech into formatted text for use across applications. Its Super Mode reads the screen and adjusts dictated text to the current app, for example treating email as a message or coding prompts technically. It supports more than 100 languages, automatic language detection, and translation between languages. On-device speech models process audio locally, work without internet, and keep audio off the device's outbound path. With cloud models, audio and text pass through the Superwhisper proxy to the provider; the product says they are not retained for training. It works wherever text can be entered and names Slack, Cursor, and Notion, with coding plugins for Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex, and Pi. A CLI can search and export transcripts, report recording statistics, and start a local MCP server. Free includes voice-to-text, meeting recording and transcription, and email support. Pro costs $8.49 per month or $84.99 per year and adds audio and video transcription, cloud and local models, custom API keys, and priority support. Pro features can be tried for 3,000 words before free-tier features remain available.

Voice In

Voice In is a browser extension that turns speech into text in web text fields, placing recognized words at the cursor in real time. It is available for Chrome and Edge on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Chromebooks, and supports more than 50 languages and 100 dialects. Built-in voice commands can add punctuation or paragraphs and correct common dictation errors. The maker says it supports more than 10,000 websites and lists 268 tested apps; some listed apps require Plus Advanced Mode. The free plan provides 60 minutes of dictation per day. Voice In Plus adds unlimited dictation, Advanced Mode, custom voice commands, a Dictation Box, language switching, case changes, and premium support. AI Transforms can polish selected text or apply a customized style; the maker says only selected text is sent to an AI model and is not stored by Voice In. Dictation requires an active internet connection and does not work offline. Its privacy policy says dictated audio and transcript text are processed using browser speech-to-text and are not sent to Voice In servers.
