Overview

ValueStream brings process capture, value stream mapping, Lean analysis, and improvement tracking into one platform. It supports up to 10 value streams, a meaningful constraint for organizations managing a larger portfolio of flows. MapVS was founded in 2025 and is headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Key features

Capture and mapping

Teams can capture processes through web or guided recording, Gemba walks, video analysis, photo digitization, and CSV, Excel, or ERP imports. That range suits projects that combine observation with existing operational data. The drag-and-drop canvas provides 47 shapes, 12 connection types, and live Lean calculations, giving practitioners room to represent varied flows without losing sight of metrics as they map.

Analysis and improvement

Lean metrics, bottleneck detection, waste classification, AI suggestions, and Monte Carlo simulation support analysis from identifying constraints to considering possible changes. Simulation and What-If are excluded from Free, so teams that need that modeling capability must move beyond the entry tier. Video analysis is also quota-limited by plan: Starter allows five analyses per month, Pro 20, and Team 50; each is marked Beta.

Templates and connections

More than 1,000 templates cover 33 industries, which can give teams a useful starting point rather than requiring every map to begin from a blank canvas. The marketplace has 23 connectors, including Jira, Slack, Teams, Zapier, SAP, and ServiceNow, but integrations are available on Pro and above. A REST API with OpenAPI documentation and webhook support offers another route for connecting workflows.

Mobile, desktop, and security

The iPhone and iPad app supports offline recording, photos, NFC scanning, GPS tracking, and analytics, and is available through iOS TestFlight for iOS 16 and later. The Windows, Mac, and Linux desktop recorder is marked Coming Soon on the Apps page, although it is included in the Pro plan description; buyers who depend on desktop recording should confirm its availability before choosing that tier.

MapVS describes encryption at rest and in transit, Australian Privacy Act compliance, and GDPR readiness. Data is stored on DigitalOcean infrastructure in Sydney, and deleted account data is permanently purged within 30 days. Formal SOC 2 Type II certification is on the 2027 roadmap, so organizations requiring that certification should look elsewhere for now.

Pricing

ValueStream is freemium, with a 14-day trial and paid plans billed monthly where stated. The paid plans have custom pricing rather than public prices, which makes budget comparison harder before contacting MapVS.

Plan	What it includes	Best suited to
Free	0.00 USD per free, billed Forever free. Two maps with up to five stages each, three basic templates, limited web recorder, 50 MB storage, and no simulation or What-If.	Individuals or teams assessing the mapping workflow on a small process set; the map, stage, and storage caps make it unsuitable for broad ongoing use.
Starter	Custom pricing, billed monthly. Ten maps, unlimited stages, 1,000+ templates, five video analyses per month (Beta), and 1 GB storage.	Small improvement efforts that need more mapping capacity and templates but can work without the listed Pro-level simulation and integrations.
Pro	Custom pricing, billed monthly. Unlimited maps and imports, DES simulation, desktop recorder for Windows, Mac, and Linux, 20 video analyses per month (Beta), and 10 GB storage.	Teams that need simulation, higher map capacity, or integrations, which are available on Pro and above. Desktop recorder timing merits confirmation.
Team	Custom pricing; five seats included, with +$6.99/mo each additional. Everything in Pro, team workspaces and roles, 50 video analyses per month (Beta), and 35 GB storage.	Collaborative groups that need shared workspaces and roles, with a clear additional-seat charge.
Enterprise	Custom annual pricing; minimum 10 seats. Everything in Team, SSO/SAML, data region selection, dedicated support, custom integrations, and 100 GB+ storage.	Larger organizations that need identity controls, region choice, custom integrations, or dedicated support; the 10-seat minimum rules out smaller teams.

All plans include email support; Enterprise adds dedicated support. Free is the only plan with a published price, while the paid tiers require a pricing conversation.

Platforms

ValueStream supports iOS, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows. The iOS app is distributed through TestFlight for iOS 16 and later. Windows, Mac, and Linux desktop recording is marked Coming Soon, so platform support should not be confused with a desktop recorder that is already available.

Who it's for

ValueStream fits Lean practitioners, process engineers, consultants, and improvement teams that need to combine process observation, mapping, metrics, and improvement analysis. It is particularly compelling when teams can make use of its multiple capture methods, templates, and simulation. It is a weaker fit for organizations needing more than 10 streams, public paid-tier pricing, or formal SOC 2 Type II certification today.

Pros and cons

Pros

Multiple capture routes, including Gemba walks, media digitization, and ERP imports, suit teams with mixed process evidence.
The 47-shape, 12-connection canvas and live Lean calculations pair flexible mapping with ongoing metrics.
More than 1,000 templates across 33 industries can reduce setup work for common process contexts.
Offline iOS recording, NFC scanning, and GPS tracking support field capture away from a live connection.

Cons

Free is limited to two maps, five stages each, three basic templates, and 50 MB, excluding simulation and What-If.
Paid-tier prices are custom, making early budget comparison less straightforward.
Integrations are restricted to Pro and above, while video analysis carries monthly quotas even on paid tiers.
The desktop recorder is marked Coming Soon, and formal SOC 2 Type II certification remains on the 2027 roadmap.
The 10-stream ceiling can constrain organizations managing a wider portfolio of value streams.

Alternatives

Value Stream Management Software is the broader category directory for comparing options. HCL DevOps Velocity is worth considering for buyers seeking a freemium alternative with a free Community Edition covering two to three licenses and Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web, and Windows platforms. Planview AdaptiveWork is a paid option with Android, API, iOS, and web platforms; pricing is available by contacting an account executive. Cora Value Stream Management is another paid option for teams prepared to request pricing. Digital.ai TeamForge is a paid, no-free-plan alternative spanning API, Linux, self-hosted, and web, with sales contact required for pricing and licensing. Keypup Value Stream Management Dashboard may suit buyers comparing an annual API-oriented option; its MCP & API Only plan is 49.00 USD per month, billed annually in advance, with bucket-based record pricing. Axify is a paid API and web alternative with a Pro plan priced at 29.00 USD per year, billed annually per active contributor per month. CloudBees CI is a paid option for Linux, self-hosted, web, and Windows environments, with pricing handled by Sales or an account team. eVSM is a Windows alternative with a 150.00 USD per once academic license for eligible full-time students, limited to educational use, one user, and one PC.

Verdict

Choose ValueStream if your improvement work benefits from varied process-capture methods, flexible mapping, and Lean analysis in one platform. The decisive drawback is the combination of a restrictive Free tier and custom-priced paid plans, compounded by the 10-stream ceiling; teams needing predictable costs, more streams, or currently available desktop recording should compare alternatives first.
