In their own words
Tab Wrangler
Tab Wrangler is a free browser extension that closes tabs after a period of inactivity, with a one-hour default timeout. Closed tabs are kept in Tab Corral, a searchable, sortable list where they can be restored with one click. Some restorations retain browsing history and scroll position, subject to the browser’s limit of the 25 most recently closed tabs. Users can lock tabs or windows and automatically protect tabs from specified sites. Audio-playing and grouped tabs can also be protected as options, while pinned and active tabs are always protected. Settings include a minimum number of open tabs before automatic closing starts, a pause control, keyboard shortcuts, and import or export for saved tabs and settings. The extension is available for Chrome and Firefox. Browser-account sync can carry settings if enabled, but closed tabs are stored locally and are not synced. The developer says the extension sends no user or usage data and has no tracking, analytics, or advertisements. It can read tab titles and URLs, but not page contents. Saved-tab capacity depends on the browser’s storage quota.
tabExtend
tabExtend is a visual tab manager that adds notes, images, and reminders inside the browser. Users can save, close, and reopen groups of tabs with drag-and-drop or right-click actions. It also supports to-dos, colored notes, and reminders for sites and items. Workspaces and categories can be shared privately or publicly, with colleagues invited to collaborate in real time. Workspaces sync to the cloud for use across devices; tabExtend says its stored data is end-to-end encrypted and backed up twice a day. Search helps locate saved items, and groups can be generated from bookmarks and most-visited sites. The extension is available for Chrome, Brave, and Edge, with native apps for Android and iPhone/iPad. The free plan includes basic features and up to 30 saves, with unlimited time and no account required. Pro is $8 a month; Team is $21 a month for three seats, with additional seats at $7 each. The extension can replace the new-tab page and read browsing history; downloads, most-visited URLs, and bookmarks are optional permissions.
