Overview

UpPromote is an affiliate-marketing platform built for Shopify merchants. It suits stores that want partner tracking and payouts tied closely to their Shopify business, but sales-based fees mean a low monthly price may not stay low as referrals grow.

Key features

Attribution can follow links, coupons, connected customers, or connected products, using last-click attribution and a 3,652-day cookie window. That mix supports different referral journeys and a long period in which a conversion can be credited; merchants should still consider whether last-click attribution fits how they want to reward partners.

Affiliates have a partner portal, and merchants can schedule payouts through PayPal or store credit. Fraud detection targets spam signups and suspected referrals, while integrations include PayPal, Wise, email marketing and subscription apps, Shopify customer accounts, API, and postback URLs. The site advertises 24/7 support.

Shopify Plus is supported. Creator Discovery is an optional add-on starting at $39/month, searching more than 380 million creators across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Enterprise includes API and webhook customization and unlimited staff accounts; Professional is limited to four staff accounts, a meaningful distinction for larger teams.

Pricing

The Free plan costs $0.00 USD per free and includes one affiliate program, one coupon per affiliate, $3,000 in referral reviews per month, 100 bulk emails per day, and 50 MB of media storage. It is a sensible way to start a small program, but the review cap and single-program limit constrain expansion.

Growth costs 29.99 USD per month, plus 2% of successful referral sales. It raises the monthly allowance to 300 referral reviews and 300 bulk emails per day, but retains one program, one coupon per affiliate, and 50 MB of media storage. The percentage fee is an important cost beyond the subscription.

Professional costs 89.99 USD per month, plus 1.5% of successful referral sales. Its 600 monthly referral reviews, unlimited programs and coupons, 400 daily bulk emails, and unlimited media gallery make it a better fit for a growing operation with multiple programs. It also lists a maximum of four staff accounts.

Enterprise costs 199.99 USD per month, plus 1% of successful referral sales. Unlimited referral reviews, programs, coupons, and media storage, along with 500 daily bulk emails, unlimited staff accounts, and API and webhook customization, suit larger teams that need room to scale. Creator Discovery can be added to any plan from $39/month. Yearly billing is advertised as saving 17%; weigh that discount against the ongoing sales-based charge on paid plans.

Platforms

UpPromote is built for Shopify and supports Shopify Plus. Its platform classification is API; integrations also include Shopify customer accounts and postback URLs.

Who it's for

Choose UpPromote if your business runs on Shopify and you want affiliate tracking, partner access, payout options, and graduated review limits in one program. It is less compelling for businesses outside Shopify, or for merchants who want paid-plan costs without a percentage of referral sales.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple tracking methods, a very long cookie window, scheduled PayPal or store-credit payouts, and fraud detection cover core affiliate-program needs.
Pros: Higher plans expand review capacity and remove program and coupon limits, while Enterprise adds unlimited staff accounts and API and webhook customization.
Cons: Every paid plan adds a percentage fee on successful referral sales, so its monthly subscription is not the full cost.
Cons: Free and Growth both allow only one program and one coupon per affiliate; Professional's four-staff cap may also be restrictive for larger teams.

Choose Refersion if you want a freemium option with a web platform and a marketplace listing plan for publishing a percent-of-sale offer. OpenPartner may suit teams seeking API, web, or self-hosted options and a 3% of GMV model with no monthly fee. Refport is worth considering if a free tier with 100 links, 5,000 monthly clicks, and one seat better matches a smaller program. Trackier offers custom pricing and the first 10,000 conversions free, for buyers seeking a paid service with a personalized proposal. Sprout Affiliate has a free plan for one program and up to 200 referral orders per month, with Android and iOS support. Trackdesk is a paid option whose Business plan includes five seats, 10 active offers, and 100 coupon tracking. Partnero offers a paid Starter plan billed annually with one program, one team member, and unlimited partners and transactions. Aflink offers a free tier for the first five creators with unlimited tracked clicks.

Verdict

UpPromote is a strong fit for Shopify merchants who want flexible referral tracking and progressively higher program limits, with Shopify Plus support for larger stores. Its key trade-off is the percentage charge on paid-plan sales, so compare projected referral volume against the monthly fee before committing.
