Overview

Termalin is a remote-work client for people who move between SSH, file transfers, databases and AI-agent workflows. It is most compelling when those jobs belong in one workspace; if you need only a terminal, its breadth may be more than you need.

Its strongest case is the combination of a broad database client and agent access alongside terminal and file tools. Cloud sync and collaboration require paid plans, and Windows users installing the .exe should expect a SmartScreen unknown-publisher warning; the Microsoft Store build is signed.

Key features

Terminal, files and databases

Termalin’s xterm-256color sessions include tabs, a host sidebar, snippets and session restore with scrollback, making it suited to recurring remote work. SFTP, FTP and S3 browsers, a built-in editor and dual-pane transfers extend it into file management without requiring separate file tools. The database client covers 13 engines, including PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, SQLite, MongoDB, Redis, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, Cassandra/ScyllaDB, Neo4j, InfluxDB, RabbitMQ, SQL Server and Cloudflare D1. That breadth is useful for operators across varied stacks, though it matters less if your work is limited to a shell.

Agents, browser access and security

The built-in MCP server lets agents open sessions, run commands, read or write files over SFTP, and join live sessions while the user watches. Documented integrations include Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex, with local or hosted MCP. This is a practical fit for users who want an agent working alongside their own sessions; it adds little for those who do not use MCP-capable agents.

The web cabinet provides terminal, file browsing and recording replay from a laptop, phone or tablet without installing the app. For private servers, the Connector dials out without an inbound port, uses short-lived certificates and keeps the agent blind to SSH bytes. Vault data is encrypted on-device before synchronization using a master-password-derived PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 key and AES-256-GCM. Accounts support TOTP with backup codes and passkeys, and SSH host keys are pinned on first use. Recordings capture terminal output and event markers rather than raw keystrokes; hidden-prompt passwords are not echoed into them. Termalin says data minimisation and account/data deletion on request are shipped; independent penetration testing is planned and SOC 2 is on the roadmap, so those milestones should not be mistaken for completed assurances.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and lasts forever. It includes SSH and SFTP, a local encrypted vault, session recording and replay, watch grid, the 13-engine database client and MCP agent. It is unusually capable for a no-cost entry point, but it gives up cloud vault, device and snippet sync, command automation, cloud recordings and agent live-session access.

Pro costs 8.00 USD per month, billed yearly, and adds those cloud and automation features to everything in Free. It suits an individual who needs synchronized access or live agent collaboration; the annual billing term matters if you want the paid features only briefly. The 14-day trial gives prospective subscribers a limited period to assess them.

Team costs 15.00 USD per month, billed yearly, and includes Pro plus a shared team vault, session sharing, collaboration, roles and permissions, and consolidated billing. It is the relevant tier for teams coordinating access rather than solo users who only need cloud sync. Enterprise has custom pricing and adds multiple vaults, granular access, agent governance, SLA and priority support, plus a dedicated manager, migration and onboarding.

Beta founders — Pro, for life costs 149.00 USD per month, billed limited to the beta, with lifetime Pro access and all future Pro features included. Its unusually high listed monthly amount and beta-only terms make it a distinct offer, not a straightforward substitute for the annual Pro plan.

Platforms

Termalin supports Windows, macOS and Linux, with web access through the cabinet and API and iOS also included among its platforms. On Windows, the unsigned .exe may trigger an unknown-publisher warning; choose the signed Microsoft Store build if that matters to your installation policy.

Who it's for

Termalin is a strong fit for administrators and developers who combine remote shell work with transfers, database access or agent-assisted operations, especially when device sync or team controls justify a subscription. A terminal-only user, or someone who does not need cloud and collaboration features, can stay on Free or choose a more focused terminal.

Pros and cons

Broad workflow coverage: SSH, SFTP/FTP/S3, editing, dual-pane transfers and a 13-engine database client share one product.
Agent access with oversight: MCP agents can run commands and work with files, including joining live sessions while the user watches.
Useful free tier: Core SSH/SFTP, recordings, database access and MCP are included without a paid plan.
Cloud features are paid: Sync, cloud recordings, automation and live-session agent access start with Pro, billed yearly.
Windows installer caveat: The .exe is unsigned, although the Microsoft Store build is signed.
Assurance milestones remain ahead: Independent penetration testing is planned and SOC 2 is on the roadmap.

Alternatives

For a broader set of terminal emulators, compare the focused options below. Choose Contour if you want a free terminal for Linux, macOS or Windows without a paid plan stated. Warp is another freemium option for Linux, macOS, Windows and self-hosted use; its Free plan includes core terminal features and Warp Agent CLI access. Tabby is a free, forever-FOSS alternative for Linux, macOS and Windows.

WezTerm offers open-source releases or source builds, with MIT-licensed software at no cost. Hyper is a free option for Linux, macOS and Windows. Konsole is a free and open-source terminal application for those platforms. MobaXterm is Windows-only; its Home Edition has limits of 12 sessions, 2 SSH tunnels, 4 macros and 360 seconds for TFTP, NFS and Cron, while Professional Edition costs 69.00 USD per year. Alacritty is an open-source terminal emulator for Linux, macOS and Windows, free at no cost.

Verdict

Choose Termalin if SSH is only one part of your work and you want file, database and agent tools connected, with a capable free plan and paid cloud or team options when needed. Look elsewhere if you want a terminal alone, or if an unsigned Windows installer is unacceptable and the Store build does not fit your deployment.
