Overview

Zaklad combines system assets with governance workflows and versioned releases, giving teams a place to manage changes as well as produce design and code outputs. An optional wizard can turn a brand description into token architecture, role mapping, gap fills, and themes. That may accelerate initial setup, but teams still need to decide whether the generated structure matches their product.

Security and privacy commitments are concrete: primary application data is stored on infrastructure Zaklad operates in the EU, connections use HTTPS/TLS, sensitive credentials are encrypted at rest, and API keys are stored as hashes. Zaklad says it does not sell or rent data, use project content to train AI models, or use tracking or advertising cookies. The maker is Luke Hawkins, a sole trader registered in the Czech Republic.

Key features

The token editor provides reference graphs, theme filters, lockable groups, and live component previews. Those controls help users trace token relationships, separate theme work, and check component changes in context. The colour tool accepts OKLCH, HSL, RGBA, and HEX and generates perceptually uniform palettes, a useful combination for teams working across familiar formats while aiming for consistent colour steps.

Typography scales can generate text styles for both Figma and code. Paid tiers add brand-font hosting through a global CDN, which makes the upgrade relevant when hosted fonts are part of the delivery workflow. For icons, users can install libraries such as HeroIcons and Lucide, upload their own libraries, and merge them into one API delivered as code and Figma components.

The Figma plugin syncs variables, text styles, icons, and components. ReactJS and React Native packages are fully typed, with prop names matching Figma, a practical bridge for teams whose designers and developers share those tools. An MCP endpoint offers AI tools read and write access, and Zaklad supplies a DESIGN.md instruction file. DTCG JSON import and export support interoperability, while full-system .zaklad archives provide a way to export a complete system.

The boundary is important: Zaklad currently supports React for web and React Native for mobile, and has no plans for other design-tool integrations. Documentation and the built-in accessibility audit are coming soon; custom component import remains on the roadmap. These gaps make it harder to recommend for teams that require mature guidance, built-in accessibility checks, or a broader framework and design-tool mix. During beta, bugs can be reported in the platform or by email, with fixes targeted within 48 working hours.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it includes
Hobbyist	Free	Free forever; 1 seat, up to 3 private projects, no commercial use, and no font CDN.
Individual	€9.50 per month	1 seat, unlimited private projects, commercial use, font CDN hosting, and versioned releases.
Studio	€74.50 per month	Unlimited seats and shared projects, for teams and agencies up to 25 people.
Enterprise	Custom pricing	For organisations with 25+ employees; includes SSO/SAML, custom SLAs, custom integrations, and invoice billing.

Hobbyist is appropriate for non-commercial personal work, but its three-project cap and lack of font hosting make it a limited trial of a production workflow. Individual removes the project cap and permits commercial use while keeping the account to one seat, so it fits a solo practitioner. Studio is the team option, adding unlimited seats and shared projects for groups up to 25 people. Larger organisations can negotiate Enterprise terms for identity controls and tailored service or integrations.

Platforms

Zaklad runs on Android, iOS, and the web. For development output, its stated support is React on web and React Native on mobile; it is not a broad framework-agnostic choice. Cloud hosting suits teams that want a shared service, while EU-operated primary infrastructure and the stated encryption and transport safeguards may matter to organisations assessing data handling.

Who it's for

Zaklad is a good fit for a solo designer who needs commercial use and font hosting, or a React/React Native team that wants to connect token decisions, Figma assets, and typed code packages. Its governance and versioning also suit teams maintaining a system over time. It is a weaker fit for non-commercial users who need more than three private projects, larger teams needing broader framework support, or organisations that require published documentation and an active accessibility audit before adoption.

Pros and cons

Pros: Figma sync spans variables, text styles, icons, and components, while typed React and React Native packages align prop names with Figma.
Pros: Token graphs, theme filters, lockable groups, and live previews give system maintainers useful controls for understanding and reviewing changes.
Pros: DTCG JSON and full-system archive exports offer both a standard token format and a complete system export.
Cons: Development support is limited to React and React Native, and other design-tool integrations are not planned.
Cons: Documentation and the accessibility audit are coming soon, while custom component import is still on the roadmap.
Cons: Hobbyist excludes commercial use and font CDN hosting and caps private projects at three; Individual remains a single-seat plan.

Alternatives

Particles UI is worth considering for users who want an MIT-licensed CLI and local token management and export that work without an account, rather than Zaklad's cloud-centered workflow. Terrazzo is a free, MIT-licensed open-source option for readers who prefer a free toolset. Handoff is another free alternative.

Superposition offers a free desktop app across macOS, Windows, and Linux, so it may suit users seeking a desktop-first option. zeroheight is an alternative for web-based styleguide work with a free tier capped at one editor, one styleguide, one token set, and 500 MCP Standard Search calls per month. Bezel is another web option, though its free tier is not yet open for signup.

Carbon Design System is the straightforward alternative for readers who want an open-source design system with no paid tiers stated. Supernova is another freemium option for readers comparing design-system tools.

Design System Software is a broader category directory for comparing options.

Verdict

Choose Zaklad if you want one cloud system to connect tokens and visual assets to Figma and typed React or React Native packages, and its one-seat or team pricing fits your organisation. The clearest reason to look elsewhere is scope: teams needing other frameworks or design tools, or relying on current documentation and accessibility auditing, will be better served by a more complete fit.
