In their own words
Utoo
Utoo is a unified web development toolchain for package management, bundling, and browser-native builds. Its Rust-based package manager works with npm packages and registries, reads and writes standard package-lock.json v3 files, and reuses cached packages across projects through hard links. It supports isolated workspaces for monorepos and documents a one-command migration from pnpm that converts workspace, override, and catalog settings. The @utoo/pack bundler uses Turbopack and SWC, with incremental builds and persistent caching. Listed bundler capabilities include HMR, code splitting, Lightning CSS, Webpack loader compatibility, bundle analysis, and image optimization. For browser-based development, @utoo/web uses WebAssembly and OPFS for package installation, builds, and HMR; its playground runs without a server. Utoo supports Linux, macOS, Windows, and web, and is open source under the MIT License. With cnpm-compatible registries such as npmmirror, it can use server-side semver resolution and redirect native-module downloads to a binary mirror CDN; both optimizations are off on the official npm registry.
Yarn
Yarn is a package manager and project manager for JavaScript projects, serving uses from simple projects to industry monorepos. It resolves dependencies, maintains lockfiles and provides workspaces that install and link packages within a project. Modern Yarn uses Plug'n'Play by default, generating a Node.js loader file instead of a typical node_modules folder; users can choose node_modules or pnpm-style symlink installs instead. Yarn caches installed packages and shares them among projects on the same machine. Its offline mirror and zero-installs workflow can keep cached packages in a repository and reduce reliance on the npm registry. Plugins can extend resolvers, fetchers, linkers, commands and lifecycle hooks. Generated editor SDKs and settings support VSCode, Vim, Emacs and Neovim. Yarn runs on Linux, macOS and Windows and is free, with no paid plans or usage limits stated. Its documentation notes that React Native and Expo require typical node_modules installs. Yarn does not run audits during installation by default; users can run yarn npm audit separately.
