“Copyright-free” does not always mean “use without credit.” Soundimage requires proper attribution, Tunee requires attribution for music made on its Free plan, and AI Makes Song lets free users publish with attribution. Check the terms for the specific track and plan, then add the required credit wherever the music is published.

What “Copyright-Free” Means For Attribution

The label alone does not settle whether credit is required. A creator or service can make music available for use while attaching conditions such as attribution. Credit also does not grant rights that the applicable terms withhold: for example, Tunee limits Free-plan music to personal, non-commercial projects, while its paid subscribers get full commercial rights to their tracks.

Attribution and copyright ownership are separate questions, too. The U.S. Copyright Office says works generated entirely by AI are not copyrightable, prompts alone do not make someone an author, and only human-authored parts of a mixed work can be protected. Applicants registering a work containing more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material must disclose it and describe the human author’s contribution. These points concern U.S. copyright registration; they do not replace a service’s usage terms.

Which Music Sources Require Attribution?

Source Attribution requirement Use terms established here
Soundimage Required to use its assets legally. No specific credit wording is established here; check the site for the required form. Commercial use is allowed.
Tunee Free-plan creations require attribution. Suggested wording: “Created by Tunee AI.” Free music is for personal, non-commercial projects. Paid subscribers get full commercial rights to their tracks.
AI Makes Song Free users can test and publish with attribution to AI Makes Song. Exact credit wording is not stated; check the site. Paid plans unlock commercial rights for videos, podcasts, and games.

How To Add Attribution Before You Publish

  1. Identify the source and plan. Record the track’s provider and the plan under which it was obtained or generated. Terms can differ by plan.
  2. Check the terms for your use. Confirm that the intended project and publication are allowed, and look for instructions on credit wording and placement. If a use or placement is not specified, check the provider’s site.
  3. Put the credit where viewers or listeners can find it. For a video, include it in the description or credits; for a podcast, in the episode notes; for a game, in its credits or documentation. These are practical placement suggestions, not confirmed vendor requirements.
  4. Keep a record. Save the track page or terms, the plan, and the credit you used alongside the project files. This makes it easier to verify the conditions if you reuse the music later.

Choose Music That Fits The Project

For a video, podcast, or game, decide what the music needs to do before choosing a track: sit quietly under speech, mark a transition, or carry a scene. A useful prompt might be: “Instrumental background music for a calm tutorial; keep the melody simple and leave room for spoken narration.” For a game menu, try: “A restrained instrumental loop for a reflective menu screen, with a steady pace and no dramatic ending.” These are brief-writing examples, not claims that any named service supports a particular genre, loop format, or control.

Tunee is described as supporting conversational prompts, so a creator can state the intended scene and ask for an instrumental cue. The available facts do not establish that any of these sources offers a particular genre, duration, loop behavior, file format, or placement-specific feature. Check each provider’s site for those specifics, and listen for whether the result leaves enough space for dialogue or repeats cleanly before building around it.

When Attribution Is Not Enough

A credit does not resolve every rights issue. If music includes a recognizable voice, a cover, or samples, check that you have the necessary consent and that the provider’s terms permit the intended use. The established product information does not specify permissions for particular voices, covers, or samples, so confirm those details with the provider before publishing.

For video platforms, also distinguish music permission from platform disclosure rules. YouTube requires creators to label realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance. That disclosure is separate from music attribution and does not establish that a track is cleared for your project.
