An AI music license and copyright protection are separate things. A platform may let you use a track commercially under its terms, while that permission does not necessarily mean you own copyright in the AI-generated music. In the United States, the Copyright Office says music generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, prompts alone do not make a person its author, and human-authored parts of a mixed work may be protected.

What Rights Do You Get When You Generate Music?

Check two questions separately: what the law protects, and what the platform permits. A vendor’s commercial-use license can authorize uses such as putting a track in a monetized video; that does not by itself establish that the track qualifies for copyright protection. Terms can also vary by plan, so check the current agreement for the account and track you will use.

If you add your own lyrics, melody, performance, or other human-created material, keep clear records of what you contributed. The U.S. Copyright Office says only the human-authored parts of a mixed work can be protected. Applicants registering a work with more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material must disclose that material and describe the human author’s contribution. These are U.S. copyright statements; they do not settle the rules in every country.

How Do Platform Licenses Differ?

The entries below describe only the licensing information available for each named service. “Commercial use” is not a guarantee of copyright ownership, exclusivity, or permission for every use. Read the linked terms before publishing, and check any use the service does not expressly address.

Service What the stated licensing information says
Suno Paid subscribers can use their songs commercially; the Pro plan is described as including full commercial rights. The Free plan does not include commercial rights.
Eleven Music Generated tracks are described as cleared for broad commercial use, but rights vary by subscription tier. Its stated exclusions include film, TV, and studio games.
Soundverse AI Beat Maker A commercial license is available for releasing and monetizing tracks; the stated Creator & Pro plan includes commercial licenses.
Loudly The service describes its music as royalty-free and says a commercial license is included. Its listing also says paid licensing rights depend on plan terms.
Mureka The service describes downloaded tracks as having full commercial rights for use across platforms and projects. Check the current terms for the applicable plan.
Musicful Downloads come with a non-exclusive, perpetual license for uses including monetized content. Musicful says it retains ownership of generated tracks; commercial use is limited to Standard and Pro plans, while Free and Basic are non-commercial.
OpenMusic AI The service describes generated tracks as licensed for commercial use and says each song comes with a license. Its plans govern downloads and licensing.
Songin.ai Paid plans include commercial use. The Free plan is for personal use only; its stated Pro and higher plan details include full commercial rights.
Tunee The service says paid subscribers receive full commercial rights and free users may use music for personal projects with attribution. It also says it cannot guarantee copyright protection.
Sunp Paid plans are described as the route to commercial publishing, certificate access, and repeatable project use under its current License Agreement.
AISongGen Paid plans include a commercial license; the service says each export has a per-track license associated with the account. Free users can create and listen, while downloads and monetization require a paid plan.
SimpleLofi The service describes its music as copyright-free and safe for monetization on YouTube, Twitch, and other platforms. Check its terms for the exact scope of those claims.
Beatoven.ai The service says each download comes with a license that lets you monetize your content, delivered by email.

How Should You Handle Voices, Covers, Lyrics, and References?

A license from a music generator does not establish that you have permission to imitate a real singer, use someone else’s lyrics, or incorporate a recording you do not control. Get consent from the relevant rights holders and check the service’s terms for voice cloning, covers, uploaded audio, and commercial use. The supplied licensing information does not establish permission for every such use on every service.

For a practical project, start with a prompt that specifies the musical job without naming a real artist or requesting a recognizable voice: “Create a 20-second instrumental cue for a calm product tutorial; warm piano, light brushed percussion, no vocals, gentle ending.” Then review the result, replace any material you cannot clear, and record which parts you wrote or performed yourself. The example is a general workflow, not a claim that any particular platform supports that duration or those controls.

Before release, save the applicable plan terms, the track’s license or certificate if provided, the prompt, and your human contributions. Confirm the license covers the intended destination and use—such as monetized video, advertising, a client project, or a streaming release—because a general commercial-use statement may not answer every case.

What Changes When You Publish the Track?

Distribution and platform policies add another layer beyond the generator’s license. Spotify announced that vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist has authorized it, and that it supports AI disclosures in credits. If a track uses an identifiable person’s voice, obtain that person’s consent and check both the generator’s and distributor’s terms.

YouTube requires creators to disclose realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance. Its inauthentic-content monetization policy targets mass-produced, repetitive, or template-based uploads; the policy is not a ban on AI use by itself. Follow the platform’s disclosure and monetization rules for the specific upload.

What a Commercial License Does Not Establish

  • Copyright ownership: Permission to use a track commercially does not prove that the track, or every part of it, is copyrightable or owned by you.
  • Exclusivity: A non-exclusive license, as stated for Musicful downloads, does not promise that nobody else can use the track.
  • Clearance of borrowed material: A service’s license does not, on the information available here, establish clearance for a third-party voice, lyric, recording, or reference.
  • Every possible use: Check the current terms for your plan, destination, and intended use, especially when the terms identify exclusions or do not address your case.

For a specific dispute or a consequential release, consult a qualified rights professional in the relevant jurisdiction.
