As of the current Udio transition period, you cannot download audio, video, or stems from Udio. Udio’s song-creation tools remain available, but the download controls are disabled. You can still make and share songs through Udio; treat any song you create there as something you can listen to and share on the service, not as a file you can export for your phone, video editor, or music library. Check your Udio account and its current terms before making plans, because availability may change.
What Downloading Means During Udio’s Transition
Udio can generate vocal or instrumental songs from text prompts and lyrics, then let you edit lyrics, extend or transform audio, and refine a track in Sessions. Those creation features do not mean an export is available. The present restriction covers audio, video, and stem downloads; stem separation may be available inside the service, but stem export is disabled.

Decide Where The Finished Song Needs To Go
Start with the destination. If you only want to listen or share a Udio page, you can proceed within the service. If you need an MP3 or WAV on an iPhone, Android phone, computer, or in a video or audio project, Udio’s current disabled downloads prevent that workflow. Do not build a deadline, client delivery, offline playlist, or editing session around an export until you have confirmed the control is available in your account.

Keep Your Human Contribution
If you write lyrics, melody, or other original material yourself, keep the drafts and dated working files. Also keep notes about the choices you made while prompting and editing. The U.S. Copyright Office says material generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, prompts alone do not make a user the author, and human-authored parts of a mixed work may be protected. For registration, applicants must disclose more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material and describe the human author’s contribution. For a vocal track, use lyrics you wrote or have permission to use. A Rights-Conscious Udio Workflow
- Open Udio and review the current terms. Go to Udio and check the terms and account notices before creating work intended for a public, commercial, or client use. Confirm what the service currently permits for sharing and whether downloads remain disabled.
- Choose a song concept you can describe without borrowing protected material. For example, prompt for “a restrained late-night synth-pop song about taking the last train home, with an original chorus and a steady electronic pulse.” For an instrumental, specify “instrumental, no vocals” and describe the mood, instruments, and arrangement you want. These are prompt-writing examples, not guarantees of a particular result or rights status.
- Use original lyrics or text you are authorized to use. If you want a vocal song, write the lyric yourself or confirm you have permission to use the text. Avoid pasting a song’s existing lyrics or supplying a recording unless you have the necessary rights and Udio’s terms permit the use.
- Generate and refine within Udio. Use its lyric tools, audio transformations, and Sessions editing to shape the song. Save your own lyric drafts and notes about substantive edits so you can identify your human contributions later.
- Review the output before sharing it. Listen for lyrics or vocal qualities that raise rights or consent concerns, and make changes or discard the track if necessary. The platform’s ability to generate a result does not establish that every use of that result is permitted.

Udio’s directory listing describes a free plan and paid plans from $10 per month. Its plan details list 10 daily credits and 100 monthly credits for Free, and 2,400 monthly credits for Standard. Those are generation-credit limits, not download entitlements. The same listing says downloads are disabled during the transition. Therefore, paying for a higher monthly credit allowance does not establish that you can export songs.

- If your goal is listening or sharing, use the Udio-hosted song page while it remains available to you.
- If your goal requires an audio file or stems, wait until Udio explicitly restores the needed export in your account and review the applicable terms at that time.
