Use an AI singing voice only after you have permission to use the voice and have checked the tool’s license for your intended release. Keep a record of that permission, make a short test from your own or an authorized vocal recording, and confirm the platform’s current terms before publishing or monetizing the song. A voice-conversion feature does not itself establish consent or grant commercial rights.
What Permission Do You Need Before Making The Vocal?
Separate permission to use a person’s voice from permission to use a platform’s model or output. If you are converting a singer’s recording or training a custom voice from recordings, get the singer’s explicit permission for that use. Agree on the intended track, distribution, attribution, compensation, and whether the recording may be used to train or reuse a voice model. Keep the agreement and the source recording details with the project.

For a platform-provided or artist-inspired voice, read the applicable voice license and platform terms before generating. Check whether the voice can be used in a commercial release, whether approval is needed, and whether the license limits distribution or use. If those details are unclear, ask the vendor before release. These checks are practical safeguards, not legal advice.

Make A Consent-First Vocal
- Choose the voice source. Decide whether you will use your own performance, a consenting singer’s recording, a custom model you are authorized to train, or a platform voice with a license that fits the release. Do not assume that a publicly available voice model is authorized for your project.
- Get permission for the specific use. Ask the singer to approve the recording or model use for the track. Record whether the permission covers commercial release, promotional clips, edits, and future reuse. If you plan to train a model, state that explicitly.
- Check the tool and voice terms. Before uploading audio, check the vendor’s current terms, selected plan, and any voice-specific license. Confirm whether commercial release is permitted and whether attribution, approval, or other conditions apply. If the terms do not answer your question, ask the vendor.
- Prepare a short musical test. Use a brief phrase from your own or authorized recording, with the intended melody and vocal style. For example, test a verse line with a sustained final note, then a chorus phrase with the same singer and a stronger delivery. These are performance directions for your source recording; they do not guarantee a particular tool feature or result.
- Generate or convert the test. Use a tool that supports the workflow you selected.
