In their own words
4Minitz
4Minitz is a free, open-source web app for preparing meeting agendas, recording minutes and tracking topics and action items. Teams can create meeting series, invite participants, assign moderators and uploaders, and mark agenda topics as recurring. During meetings, users can record attendance, add information and assign actions to responsible people; logged-in invitees can see changes to current minutes in real time. Unfinished actions and open topics can carry forward, and search covers topic history and full text. Roles control who can edit, upload or view material. Re-finalizing a meeting adds a version number, while older finalized minutes cannot be changed through the normal workflow. Agendas, minutes and actions can be emailed, and finalized protocols can be exported as HTML, PDF or PDF/A when enabled by an administrator. The app can run in a browser or on self-hosted infrastructure and supports Docker. It uses Meteor JS, Node.js and MongoDB, with LDAP and Active Directory options for user import and authentication. A client can temporarily work offline and sync later, but closing a browser or tab before unsaved changes sync can lose them.
Recal
Recal turns Slack messages, meetings, and other supplied material into structured recaps, decisions, and tasks. It can capture meetings or create recaps from pasted text, voice memos, file uploads, and URL links. For meetings, its AI analyzes video frames so screen shares and presentations can inform the recap alongside audio transcription. Recal lists Slack, Notion, and Linear integrations; Google Calendar sync is included on Pro and Premium. It says it reads Slack messages only in channels where users invoke /recal, not private DMs, and does not retain full message history. The FAQ says data is encrypted in transit and at rest, meeting content is not used to train AI models, and users can delete their data. Uploaded originals are deleted after processing; transcripts and summaries are kept. Uploads can be up to 2GB, while text-to-tasks accepts up to 50,000 characters. The Starter plan has no listed price. Pro is $14 a month and Premium is $29 a month; both include specified monthly recap allowances and retention periods. Recal describes its audience as distributed teams working across time zones and communicating asynchronously.
