Overview

Buildxact combines estimating, dealer pricing and project coordination in one product. That combination is its strongest case: builders can carry quantities and costs from PDF-based takeoffs into scheduling, cost tracking, site management and customer communication. It is less compelling for a builder who needs only estimating, or for a small crew that needs to sync jobs from the mobile app but cannot justify a Pro plan.

Founded in 2011, the company identifies Austin, Texas, as its North American headquarters.

Key features

Estimating and dealer pricing

Users can upload PDF plans, perform digital takeoffs and prepare job estimates. Dealer connections provide real-time material pricing and quote requests, bringing a practical purchasing input into the estimating workflow. Go's five complimentary credits make it a limited free option for occasional use, not an ample ongoing allowance for regular estimating.

Project coordination and mobile work

Scheduling, cost tracking, site management, invoicing and customer communication take Buildxact beyond estimating. Bid management, field reporting and project financials round out its project capabilities. Buildxact Onsite lets crews view and update job information on iOS and Android, but syncing jobs and the site diary requires Pro or Teams. That restriction matters to field teams: Foundation can cover takeoffs and purchasing without providing that mobile workflow.

Blu and integrations

Blu offers AI assistance for estimating, takeoffs, estimate review and assembly. Which tools are included depends on the plan: Foundation includes Assembly Assistant, Pro adds Estimate Generator, and Master includes Takeoff Assistant and Estimate Reviewer. Foundation and Pro users can buy the other tools as add-ons, so the entry price may not reflect the cost of the Blu functions a team wants.

Accounting integrations include Xero, MYOB AccountRight and QuickBooks online versions; QuickBooks Simple Start is excluded. Buildxact says data is stored in Microsoft Azure, encrypted in transit and at rest, and protected with access controls and automated backups. Its security page cites monitoring and compliance standards including ISO 27001 and SOC 2. Subscription support includes training, webinars, a knowledge base and one-to-one consultation.

Pricing

Go is free and includes five complimentary credits, AI estimating, professional proposals and Home Depot material ordering. It is a useful way to try a narrow slice of the workflow, but the credit cap makes it a poor fit for sustained estimating.

Foundation costs 169.00 USD per month, billed annually at $2,030, with a 12-month commitment. It includes unlimited users, lead management, digital takeoffs, Blu Assembly Assistant, purchase orders, training and support. The Blu Estimate Generator is a $99/mo add-on. This is the lower-cost paid choice for builders focused on leads, estimates and purchasing, but it does not include the job management, schedules or Onsite app provided by Pro.

Pro costs 339.00 USD per month, billed annually at $4,070, with a 12-month commitment. It includes everything in Foundation, plus Blu Estimate Generator, job management, schedules and Onsite. Blu Takeoff Assistant costs an additional $99/mo and Blu Estimate Reviewer $149/mo. Pro is the relevant step up for teams coordinating active jobs and needing mobile access; the extra Blu tools can raise the bill.

Master costs 509.00 USD per month, billed annually at $6,110, with a 12-month commitment. It adds Blu Takeoff Assistant, Blu Estimate Reviewer, user access controls and priority customer support to Pro. It fits teams that need those AI tools and tighter access management, rather than builders who can work within Pro's included set.

A 14-day trial is available. Annual billing and the 12-month commitment are important constraints for any paid plan; compare the total commitment and add-on costs, not only the monthly figure.

Platforms

Buildxact is available on the web, Android and iOS. Onsite is the mobile app for crews, though job and site-diary syncing requires Pro or Teams.

Who it's for

Buildxact is best suited to residential builders who want estimating, dealer pricing and project coordination connected in one system, especially when multiple users need access to estimates and purchasing. Foundation makes sense when the priority is estimating and lead management; Pro is the more practical fit when schedules, job management and mobile syncing are central. Builders needing only a small number of estimates, or unwilling to take on an annual commitment, should compare narrower or more flexible options.

Pros and cons

Pro: PDF takeoffs, dealer pricing and project tools connect estimating with purchasing and job delivery.
Pro: Foundation includes unlimited users, avoiding a seat cap for growing teams.
Pro: Accounting integrations cover Xero, MYOB AccountRight and eligible QuickBooks Online users.
Con: Go is capped at five complimentary credits, limiting its value for regular estimates.
Con: Paid plans require a 12-month commitment, and Blu add-ons can increase the cost.
Con: Onsite job and site-diary syncing requires Pro or Teams, so Foundation does not meet that field workflow need.

Verdict

Choose Buildxact if you are a residential builder who wants estimates, dealer pricing and job coordination tied together, and can commit to annual billing. Foundation is the economical starting point for estimating and purchasing; Pro is the practical choice when crews need synced mobile job information. Look elsewhere if you need field syncing at a lower tier, have little use for project management, or want to avoid a 12-month commitment.
