In their own words
Active@ KillDisk
Active@ KillDisk permanently erases data from HDDs, SSDs, NVMe disks, USB drives and other storage media. It is available for Windows, Linux and macOS, with bootable media for Windows PE, Linux and console environments. The product lists more than 25 sanitization standards, including NIST 800-88 and DoD 5220.22-M. The freeware edition uses only the One Pass Zeros method, allows two parallel erases and lacks batch scripting and post-erase verification. Paid editions list erase verification, resuming interrupted erases, PDF certificates and XML reports; professional editions also list batch scripting that can run without user interaction. Some editions include low-level ATA Secure Erase for SSDs. The comparison also lists remote monitoring and HTTP process control through a Web Service, plus export of operation journals to external databases. Personal Professional costs $64.95, paid once; Personal Suite costs $79.95, paid once. Commercial and site licenses have separate listed prices. The maker describes the tool for home users, businesses, IT departments, recyclers, refurbishers, government and healthcare organizations, among others.
Blancco Drive Eraser
Blancco Drive Eraser permanently overwrites data on HDDs, SSDs, NVMes and other drive-based devices. It supports loose drives, servers, desktops, laptops, Chromebooks and Apple T2 computers, with standards including DoD, NIST, BSI and IEEE 2883, among more than 20 others. Its SSD method uses firmware commands, freeze-lock removal, random overwrites and full verification. Each erasure is verified and produces a digitally signed certificate stored centrally for auditing. Customizable workflows can automate erasure locally or remotely across offices, data centers and employee home offices. Integration options include ITSM and ITAM systems such as ServiceNow, AMS or ERP systems, plus a REST API for ticketing, support, asset-management, WMS and ERP systems. Deployment options range from CD or USB and PXE to Windows or Linux preinstall, iLO, iDRAC, Cisco UCS, Intel AMT or appliance mode. The product is for corporate IT teams, enterprises, IT asset disposition vendors and other high-volume processors. A 14-day free trial allows up to five erasures, diagnostics or gradings and integration testing. Pricing is on request; a free trial is available, but there is no free plan.
