Overview

Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud brings fundraising, program delivery, grantmaking and impact measurement into one web-based platform. It is aimed at nonprofits and related organizations that want those operations connected, rather than handled through separate point solutions. Its breadth is the draw; annual per-user commitments and sales-led pricing make it important to match that breadth to a real need.

Key features

Fundraising combines donor profiles and reusable audience segments with gift entry and management of commitments, designations, soft credits and tributes. Campaign management, online donation forms, recurring gifts, automated receipts and advanced reporting extend that workflow. This is a strong fit for teams coordinating several fundraising activities, but may be more platform than an organization needs if its main requirement is a straightforward donor database.

Volunteer management covers events, roles, shifts, locations, attendance, applications and engagement history, with self-service sign-up through Experience Cloud. Program tools track enrollment, attendance, services and benefits; outcome tools let teams define outcomes and targets, track results and collect assessment data. Connecting these functions can help organizations relate service delivery to measured results, rather than keeping program records separate from impact reporting.

Grantmaking supports publishing funding opportunities, collaborating on proposals, awarding grants and managing budgets and disbursements. Salesforce product connections include Marketing Cloud, Data 360, Slack and OmniStudio; partner apps include Classy, DonorDrive, WealthEngine and AmpImpact. Accounting Subledger consolidates Salesforce CRM data with an organization’s accounting system, supporting accounting workflows without making Nonprofit Cloud itself an accounting system.

Salesforce’s trust documentation describes security and privacy audits, certifications and applicable administrative, technical and physical controls. The Advanced plan adds security-related features including Full Sandbox, Backup & Recover, Archive, Data Detect and Security Center. That higher-tier package may matter to organizations needing those named capabilities; they should weigh it against the significant price step from Core.

Pricing

The Power of Us Program provides eligible nonprofits 10 free Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud or Sales/Service Cloud licenses. That is a practical starting point for qualifying organizations, but it is a limited license allowance rather than a general free plan for an unlimited team.

Nonprofit Cloud Sales & Service Core is $70 USD/User/Month (Billed annually). It includes the Nonprofit Data Model, Nonprofit Toolkit, Accounting Subledger Growth, flex credits for AI, Agentforce, Data and more, Slack Business+ with Slackbot, Tableau Next and Premier Success Plan. Core is the more measured paid option for teams that need the nonprofit data model and connected accounting support without the Advanced tier’s additional security, storage, automation and AI features.

Sales & Service Advanced is $125 USD/User/Month (Billed annually). It includes everything in Core plus more AI, storage, automation and security, along with Full Sandbox, Backup & Recover, Archive, Data Detect, Security Center, Help Agent, Customer Signals Intelligence and Sales Programs. It is the plan to consider when those additions justify the substantially higher per-user rate; otherwise, Core avoids paying for a larger bundle.

Salesforce also gives a paid-from figure of $60/user/mo (annual), while per-user products require an annual contract. Listed pricing is informational and subject to change, and detailed pricing requires contacting sales. A 30-day trial is available. Confirm the applicable quote and contract terms before budgeting; the annual commitment matters especially for organizations still determining how many users need access.

Platforms

Nonprofit Cloud runs on the web. Volunteer self-service sign-up through Experience Cloud offers a separate route for volunteers, but the stated platform support for Nonprofit Cloud itself is web.

Who it's for

Salesforce describes the product as designed for nonprofits, charities, social housing associations and social businesses. It is most compelling for organizations that need fundraising, volunteer coordination, program delivery, outcomes and grantmaking connected across teams. Smaller organizations seeking only donor records, or buyers wanting to avoid annual per-user commitments, should consider a narrower option.

Pros and cons

Pro: Fundraising, volunteer, program, outcome and grantmaking workflows sit within one platform, which suits organizations trying to connect those activities.
Pro: Accounting Subledger connects Salesforce CRM data with an accounting system, and the listed integrations span Salesforce and partner products.
Con: Per-user products require annual contracts, limiting flexibility if staffing or licensing needs change.
Con: Advanced costs $125 USD/User/Month (Billed annually), so its extra security, storage, automation and AI need to be valuable enough to warrant the higher rate.
Con: Detailed pricing requires contacting sales, which makes a firm budget harder to establish from the listed rates alone.

Alternatives

For a donor-focused shortlist, start with Donor Management Software; for service-delivery workflows, compare Nonprofit Program Management Software. Organizations prioritizing a nonprofit customer-record system can also review Nonprofit CRM Software.

Donorfy is worth considering when a small organization wants a free fundraising CRM capped at 250 constituents and can meet its charity or work email requirement. Funraise has a free plan for organizations raising under $1 million annually, making it a relevant option for those within that threshold. Keela is an alternative for teams with 1,001–5,000 contacts willing to pay $243.00 or $316.00 USD per month, respectively, on annual plans.

Trail Blazer may suit a small database of fewer than 500 contacts: its Non-Profit Manager plan is $50/mo, with setup fees of $295 to $495 and unlimited mass email included. DonorForge offers free plans with distinct user and campaign caps: Starter allows 1 user and 2 campaigns, while Pro allows 5 users and 10 campaigns. FundRaiser Family is another option to compare for buyers considering a paid donor-management product.

Giveffect is an alternative for organizations evaluating a paid product with a minimum one-year subscription term. Karpura may be a fit for very small teams that can work within a free plan’s 2-admin, 100-emails-per-day limit and do not need online payments; its Silver plan increases those caps to 5 admin users and 1,000 emails per day for $99.00 USD per month.

Verdict

Choose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud if your organization needs fundraising, programs, volunteer coordination, outcomes and grantmaking tied together, and can justify annual per-user licensing. The connected scope is its main advantage. Look elsewhere if you need only a focused donor tool or need more pricing and contract flexibility before committing.
