In their own words

Amion

Amion is scheduling software for medical groups, hospitals, and health systems to build and share on-call and shift schedules. Its tools use rules, patterns, templates, and an autoscheduler. Staff can submit work or time-off requests and swap shifts when those options are enabled for their schedule. Departments can bring their schedules together in a central hospital-wide on-call list. The mobile app supports two-way secure messaging; messages sent from the Who’s On List are one-way broadcasts. Amion lists integrations with Epic, American Messaging, Spok, Verizon, LightningBolt, QGenda, SAML-compatible SSO providers, and Imprivata products. LightningBolt and QGenda integrations display Amion schedules in those applications only in the outgoing direction. Browser access supports schedule viewing, requests, editing, swaps, and personal schedule access across platforms. The OnCall desktop scheduler runs on Windows, while Amion says Macs can run it through Winebottler or Windows emulators. Pricing is on request; listed plans are Pro, Enterprise, and Residency.

CoverED

CoverED builds monthly schedules for emergency medicine groups, including single- or multi-site departments and residency programs. Its six-pass scheduling algorithm considers requests and configured constraints, fills NOC shifts first, and balances weekends. The model supports AM, PM, and NOC shifts, separate nocturnist roles, and an APP layer with one to four daily slots depending on plan. Providers can submit availability, block dates, request shifts or PTO, trade named shifts, and claim open shifts from a phone. CoverED tracks shift and weekend equity, shows three-month rolling burnout indicators, and carries deficits into later months. Published schedules can sync to Apple, Google, or Outlook calendars through ICS or webcal; PDF and CSV exports and email and SMS digests are also available. Residency tools include block scheduling and ACGME duty-hour checks. The service can import prior schedules from PDFs, screenshots, exports, or copied text. It stores scheduling data only, not clinical data, and says it encrypts information in transit and at rest on SOC 2 infrastructure. Paid plans include setup; a free 30-minute walkthrough is available with any plan.
