In their own words
Aplazo
APLAZO lets people pay for purchases in participating online and physical stores across Mexico in installments without a credit card. Customers can use online checkout, scan a QR code in a physical store, or generate an in-app virtual card for a selected store and purchase amount. Depending on the store, account and purchase, schedules include 1, 3, 5, 8 or up to 12 biweekly installments. Eligible purchases over $5,000 MXN may qualify for monthly payments of 3, 6 or 12 months when APLAZO is offered directly by the merchant. Virtual-card purchases remain biweekly, and the card will not work at a different store. Before confirming, customers can review payment amounts, dates, total cost and applicable charges; early payments are available in the app. Registration requires identification, a selfie, a mobile number and personal details, but prior credit history is not required. Spending amounts and terms depend on the account and purchase. The service is listed as free and is available on Android, iOS, web and API. Merchants can use integrations, a developer API and a PrestaShop module.
Kueski Pay
Kueski Pay is a Mexico-only buy-now, pay-later service for eligible purchases. Customers apply online through a short form and receive an immediate decision, subject to eligibility. No credit card or down payment is required. Listed purchase amounts run from $60 to $26,000 MXN, subject to approval and restrictions. Repayment plans cover 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 fortnightly installments, with interest; seasonal promotions may offer 2 or 4 installments without interest. The Kueski app shows balances and payment dates, accepts payments, helps users find merchants, presents offers, and provides cashback. Payments can use automatic payment, the BBVA app, bank transfer, debit card, BBVA Practicaja, OXXO, and affiliated stores. Merchants receive the full sale in one payment, while Kueski handles later repayment and says it assumes all fraud and chargeback risk. Merchant connections include Shopify, VTEX, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento, Tienda Nube, and an SDK. Merchant fees are a transaction percentage plus IVA, with no fixed costs and rates supplied on inquiry. The service runs on Android, iOS, web, and API.
