In their own words
Apple Pay
Apple Pay lets people pay with eligible debit, credit, prepaid, or gift cards stored in Apple Wallet. It works at contactless terminals, in participating apps and websites, and for public transit in eligible cities. In stores, users confirm purchases with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode; Express Mode may allow transit taps without unlocking. Apple lists iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, as well as compatible web browsers and PCs. Purchases use a device-specific number and unique code instead of sharing the actual card number with merchants. Apple says some card, account, device, and location information may be used to check eligibility and help prevent fraud. In-store iPhone and Apple Watch payments can work without Wi-Fi or cellular service, though transaction history may appear after reconnecting. Find My can suspend Apple Pay through Lost Mode or remove cards remotely. Apple charges users no fees for purchases; issuers may apply their usual charges. Availability depends on market, card issuer, merchant, and payment network.
