Ogmo Editor

OGMO Editor is a free, open-source level editor for indie game developers working on 2D projects. Its project-oriented workflow connects project data to level files, which are accessible from the main window. Tile layers let users build levels from tilesets, while decal layers place images that can be scaled and rotated for decoration. Entity layers support placement of complex game objects, and grid layers add metadata to levels. Edited levels save as JSON files, allowing authored tiles, decals, and entities to be accessed by parsing the output. The editor runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows. It is free for personal and commercial projects under the MIT license. An online manual covers the editor’s workflow, and the download page offers community discussion topics and a changelog. The website credits Maddy Thorson and friends as its creators. OGMO Editor’s layer-based tools cover visual construction, object placement, and level metadata, with JSON export providing a route to use authored content in a game project.
