Overview

Nearcut brings online appointments and walk-ins into one booking system. Customers can book around a barber’s availability, and a cancellation waitlist can alert interested customers when a slot opens. That gives shops a practical way to manage both scheduled demand and last-minute gaps. Recurring bookings also suit clients who return on a regular schedule.

For shops concerned about no-shows, businesses can collect all or part of a customer’s payment when booking, whether the booking happens online or offline. The system also prompts customers who leave five-star feedback on Nearcut to review the business on Google. These features connect booking with attendance protection and review follow-up, rather than leaving those tasks entirely to staff.

Key features

Booking, reminders and payments

Nearcut supports online booking, walk-ins and recurring appointments. Automatic email confirmations and reminders, plus unlimited SMS reminders for online bookings, are included in the Free for You plan. Optional online payments and deposits have zero transaction fees on that plan, but clients pay a small booking charge at checkout. That charge is refunded if a client cancels, so the free plan removes the shop’s monthly bill without making booking cost-free for customers.

Filling cancellations and building a mobile presence

When a booking is cancelled, Nearcut can notify customers on the waitlist, which is useful when a shop wants to recover the appointment rather than leave the time empty. Nearcut can also create a custom business app for Apple’s App Store and Google Play. This offers a branded route for clients to book, though the core product also has web, Android and iOS availability.

Pricing

Free for You

Free for You costs £0.00 per month and has no monthly bill. It includes Facebook and Instagram “Book Now” integration, automatic email confirmations and reminders, unlimited SMS reminders for online bookings, and zero transaction fees on optional online payments and deposits. Clients pay a small booking charge at checkout, refunded if they cancel. The plan is positioned for businesses starting out or operating solo; it makes sense for a barber prioritising low fixed costs, but the client-facing charge may be a drawback.

Subscription

Subscription has custom pricing, billed monthly according to the barbershop’s needs, with a calculator showing £00.00 per month plus VAT. It has a flat fee and no client booking charge, and includes Facebook and Instagram “Book Now” integration. Optional Business Boosters are also offered. A 30-day free trial, no setup fee, and the ability to cancel or change the plan after the trial without a long-term commitment make it easier for established or growing shops to assess. The cost depends on the shop’s needs, so a business cannot compare a firm monthly price from the calculator figure alone.

Both plans have a personal support contact: Free for You includes a personal account manager, while the subscription calculator describes a personal business advisor. The trial and cancellation terms apply to the subscription; the free plan remains the option with no monthly bill.

Platforms

Nearcut runs on the web, Android and iOS. It also includes a client mobile app, with the option for Nearcut to create a custom business app for the Apple App Store and Google Play. The app option may suit shops seeking their own branded destination, while web booking remains available to customers who do not use an app.

Who it's for

Nearcut is a particularly good fit for solo barbers and shops that want one system for appointments, walk-ins, reminders and cancellation recovery. The free plan suits operators starting out who can accept a small client booking charge in place of a monthly bill. Established or growing barbershops may prefer the subscription’s flat-fee approach and lack of a client booking charge, provided custom pricing fits their needs. Shops that need a published subscription price before evaluating software should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Online bookings, walk-ins and recurring appointments cover several common booking patterns in one system.
Pro: Waitlist notifications can help recover cancelled slots, and full or partial prepayments can reduce exposure to no-shows.
Pro: Free for You combines no monthly bill with unlimited SMS reminders for online bookings and zero transaction fees on optional online payments and deposits.
Con: The free plan adds a booking charge for clients, which may make it less attractive to shops that want customers to pay only for their service.
Con: Subscription pricing is needs-based and shown as £00.00 per month plus VAT in the calculator, rather than a usable quoted price.

Alternatives

Browse the Barbershop Scheduling Software category to compare more options. theCut is another freemium choice with Android, iOS and web support; its free plan lists payment processing at 2.75% and a $10 charge per client for discovery, so compare those costs if client discovery is part of your decision. Pronto is worth considering for a shop that needs a free tier with stated capacity: its plan allows one staff member, 100 clients, 50 bookings per month and 100 products, while its Starter plan is $19.00 per month.

Barberly may suit teams looking for a paid barber-focused option, with a plan at $9.00 per barber per month for teams of five or more. Reservio is an alternative for a business that can work within a free allowance of 40 bookings per 30 days and 100 clients. StyleSeat may appeal to shops that want unlimited bookings and calendar access, up to 15 chairs and no contract, at $19.00 per month after its free trial. Barbs offers a free plan for one barber with unlimited queue and walk-ins, unlimited POS and receipts, and 15 online bookings per day; it is a more relevant comparison where those caps and features fit the shop’s needs.

Booksy is a paid alternative at $29.99 per month plus tax, with $20 per month for each additional user; payment processing and hardware are excluded from that price. Openfront Law Firm is another directory option.

Verdict

Nearcut is a sound choice for a barber who wants appointments and walk-ins in one place, with reminders, cancellation alerts and prepayments aimed at keeping the chair occupied and limiting no-shows. Choose Free for You when avoiding a monthly bill matters more than avoiding a client booking charge; consider the subscription for a growing shop that wants no client booking charge and accepts needs-based pricing. Look elsewhere if a clear subscription price is essential before choosing.
