In their own words
Basware
Basware is a procure-to-pay platform that automates work across procurement, accounts payable, and invoice processing. Its e-invoicing tools capture invoices submitted through different supplier channels; AI can code and route them, match them against records, and handle exceptions. Procurement capabilities include hosted catalogs, supplier management, guided request intake, stock integration, and approval workflows that issue purchase orders when requisitions are approved. Basware says its solutions connect to more than 250 ERP systems, including SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft, through open APIs and certified integrations. They can also use purchase-order data from existing procurement or ERP systems, complementing rather than replacing those systems. The platform is available on Android, iOS, and the web, with API access. Basware identifies global organizations processing more than 50,000 invoices annually, finance shared service centers, and multi-ERP environments as potential fits. Support is available by chat, web, and phone, plus a 24/7 AI-powered self-service chatbot. Pricing is tailored and available on request; no free plan is listed.
OpenProcurement
OpenProcurement is a free, open-source toolkit for procuring goods and services by public authorities or private entities. It combines a Business Process Management engine, central database, API and auction module. Frontend platforms such as eMalls and marketplaces connect through the API, allowing systems built with different programming languages or technologies to interoperate with the central database. The e-Auction module supports English, reverse, multivariable and insider auctions based on a Dutch auction. Data follows Open Contracting Data Standards and uses an open-data approach, publishing information that applicable law allows to be disclosed. The toolkit is built with Python, Pyramid, AngularJS, Bootstrap, Flask, CouchDB and PouchDB. Its central database and auction module can be hosted on AWS, with SS3-compatible object storage such as OpenStack Swift required. The database does not store registered users’ authorization data, leaving account protection to the web platform or operator. OpenProcurement is designed without limits on database size or procurement count, and components can be combined or used separately in commercial solutions.
