In their own words
Blockhammer
Blockhammer is a free voxel editor for building scenes from cubic blocks, available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Its modeling tools include layers, named objects, precise position and size controls, reversible effects, and undo. Painting works on block faces at sixteen times the blocks’ resolution and supports text, images, glass, metal, and glowing paint. Blockhammer imports and exports MagicaVoxel .vox files, and exports .glb, .obj, Minecraft .schem, and image or animation formats. Export destinations named by the maker include Unity, Unreal, Godot, Blender, Minecraft, and Teardown. The maker reports rendering a 113-million-block scene and testing scenes beyond one billion blocks. The editor autosaves every minute and can recover work after a crash. Scenes and files remain on the user's machine, and no account is required. Crash reports may include errors, recent activity, and graphics hardware details; reporting can be disabled. Optional AI texture generation is off by default and uses the image API configured with the user's own key. The software is in active development, so features may change.
Vengi VoxEdit
Vengi VoxEdit is a free, open-source voxel volume editor for creating and changing voxel scenes, with scripting and animation support. It runs on Linux, macOS, Windows, and the web; OpenGL 4.3 is the stated system requirement. Editing tools include shape, stamp, line, extrude, sculpt, texture, paint, and transform brushes. Animation features include layers, keyframes, automatic keyframing, and IK constraints. The editor can load and save many voxel formats, with the vengi format described as best supported. It can import meshes for voxelization and export models or scenes to meshes and other formats. Lua scripting is available through a built-in editor and community script browser. Network mode supports collaborative editing and chat. Saving to formats other than vengi may lose scene details, and animation saves only in vengi or formats that support animation. Connecting to voxbox.store requires a VoxBox account. The editor is under development, and the project directs users to Discord for support, requests, and bug reports.
