Overview

Board I.V. brings agendas, packets, minutes, motions, votes, tasks, documents and compliance dates into a single workspace. That joined-up workflow suits organizations where board work is spread across volunteers: agenda items can carry documents and owners, and meeting notes can become formal minutes with motions and vote counts. Passed motions can turn into dated tasks with owners, helping carry decisions into follow-up rather than leaving them in the minutes.

Board members can open agendas, packets and tasks from an email link on a phone without installing software. That is useful for occasional participants, though organizations should not mistake easy access for enterprise-grade identity controls: Board I.V. says it is not intended for groups requiring SSO, SOC 2 attestation or HIPAA BAAs.

Key features

Meeting records and follow-through

Digital vote records and an audit trail give motions and polls a durable record. Turning passed motions into assigned, dated tasks connects governance decisions with execution; this is a stronger fit for boards that need accountability after meetings than for organizations seeking a general-purpose project management system.

Compliance and access

Reminders cover 990 filing dates, state registrations, board terms, conflict-of-interest disclosures and D&O renewals. That breadth is useful to nonprofits juggling recurring governance obligations. Board I.V. says data is encrypted in transit and at rest, scoped to the organization, and never sold or used to train outside models. Only invited people can access data, with roles controlling access to financials, evaluations and compliance records. Those protections do not meet the stated needs of organizations requiring the named attestations or SSO.

Meetings and support

The service describes Zoom integration; links for Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex or another provider can be added manually. Boards using those services should expect to add meeting links themselves. Board I.V. says a human answers support@boardiv.com. It is built by Joe Morrison, who says he has spent 40 years inside nonprofit boardrooms.

Pricing

The Free plan costs $0/month for 1–3 members and 500MB of storage. It is a practical starting point for a very small board, but the narrow membership and storage allowances make it a poor fit once records or participation grow.

Standard costs $39/month or $390/year, with two months free on annual billing. It supports up to 15 members and 10GB of storage; extra seats cost $5/month. This is the natural step for a growing nonprofit, though the seat charge matters for boards that exceed the included membership.

Professional costs $89/month or $890/year, also with two months free on annual billing. Unlimited members and 100GB of storage suit multi-committee boards or larger organizations that would outgrow Standard's seat cap. The 14-day Professional trial requires no credit card; accounts switch to Free afterward unless upgraded. The trial gives a board a short evaluation window, but its post-trial tier has much tighter capacity.

Platforms

Board I.V. runs on Android, iOS and the web. Phone access through email links and no required installation lowers friction for board members who do not want another app, while the stated platform range covers mobile and browser use.

Who it's for

Its intended audience includes nonprofits, churches, social service agencies, schools, foundations, associations and volunteer-run groups. The strongest fit is an organization that wants meeting records, voting, assigned follow-up and recurring compliance reminders connected, and can work within the chosen tier's member and storage limits. It is not the right choice for an organization that currently requires SOC 2 attestation, HIPAA BAAs or SSO.

Pros and cons

Pro: Agendas, minutes, votes and owned tasks connect decisions with follow-up, rather than treating meeting records as an endpoint.
Pro: Compliance reminders cover several recurring nonprofit obligations, including filings, registrations, terms and renewals.
Pro: Email-link phone access requires no installation, which accommodates occasional board participants.
Con: Free is limited to 1–3 members and 500MB, so even modest growth can require a paid plan.
Con: Standard caps membership at 15, with extra seats at $5/month; larger boards need Professional's $89/month tier.
Con: Organizations requiring SOC 2 attestation, HIPAA BAAs or SSO should rule it out.
Con: Zoom is the described integration; links for other meeting providers must be added manually.

Verdict

Choose Board I.V. if your nonprofit wants meeting decisions, tasks and compliance reminders in one governance workflow, especially when members need simple phone access. Its free plan and clear upgrade path are useful for small groups, but the limited free capacity and the explicit security exclusions make it a poor fit for larger boards with strict identity or compliance requirements.
