Overview

Boardmix is a shared whiteboard for teams that plan projects, run workshops, or build diagrams together. It suits groups that want visual collaboration, presentations, and AI tools in one workspace; its free tier is useful for trying the workflow, but its small board and storage allowances make it a poor long-term fit for expanding work.

Key features

Canvas and collaboration

An infinite canvas supports mind maps, flowcharts, smart formatting, and presentation mode. That range makes Boardmix useful for both open-ended brainstorming and more structured planning, with the option to present board content rather than move it into a separate tool. Shared editing, chat, mentions, comments, emojis, guest collaboration, and voting tools help teams discuss and review work in place.

AI, imports, and integrations

AI tools cover art, presentations, mind maps, flowcharts, and chat or writing. They broaden the product beyond a conventional whiteboard, but users should weigh the privacy trade-off: when they choose AI features, reference images or original documents may be sent to AI models for processing.

Imports and exports span PDF, PNG, JPG, Word, Excel, JSON, CSV, Xmind, Visio, and BDX, which should help teams move material between common document, image, data, and diagram formats. Boardmix also offers an SDK for custom integrations. For Google Drive API data use, the maker says it follows Google's User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements. Its privacy policy describes reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security controls for personal information.

Pricing

The free plan is free, requires no credit card, and includes one team workspace, 3 editable boards, 100 objects per board, 1 GB of storage, standard-definition export, and 10 version-history records. It is enough to explore the product or support a small, contained project, but the board and object caps will constrain teams managing several active workstreams.

Starter costs 5.00 USD per month per member when billed annually, or $12 billed monthly. It provides one Professional team workspace, unlimited boards, objects, and projects, unlimited visitors with editing rights, 10 GB of storage per seat, and 100 version-history records. This is the practical step up for teams that need room to grow but do not need the listed AI package.

AI Starter costs 10.00 USD per month per member billed annually, or $15.9 billed monthly. It includes everything in Starter plus AI tools and 5,000 total AI credits per seat/month. Choose it when AI assistance is worth the added cost; the monthly credit quota is a meaningful constraint for frequent use. AI Business costs 20.00 USD per month per member billed annually, or $29.9 billed monthly. It adds 20 GB of storage per seat and 10,000 total AI credits per seat/month over AI Starter, making it the better fit for teams that need more storage and AI capacity.

Four one-time Lifetime plans are available: Lifetime Plan 1 costs 99.00 USD per once for one team member, 10 GB of team workspace capacity, unlimited editable boards, 10,000 total AI credits, and future upgrades. Lifetime Plan 2 costs 399.00 USD per once for 5 members, 50 GB, and 50,000 credits; Lifetime Plan 3 costs 699.00 USD per once for 10 members, 100 GB, and 100,000 credits; Lifetime Plan 4 costs 999.00 USD per once for 20 members, 200 GB, and 200,000 credits. Each includes unlimited editable boards and future upgrades, with no renewal. These fixed-capacity plans may suit teams comfortable committing to a one-time purchase and set team size, rather than paying by member each month.

Enterprise / Private has custom pricing. It includes unlimited Professional team workspaces, enterprise member management, advanced permission controls, a dedicated customer success manager, and OIDC SSO. Organizations can apply for a free Enterprise trial, subject to application review. Boardmix also supports single-node or clustered deployment in intranet, private cloud, or public cloud environments, which makes this tier relevant to organizations with specific deployment needs.

Platforms

Boardmix supports Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, and web, as well as API and self-hosted options. That breadth makes it a candidate for mixed-device teams and organizations that need deployment flexibility.

Who it's for

Boardmix is aimed at project management, sales, marketing, IT, and UX and design teams. It is strongest for groups that use visual boards to plan, map processes, gather feedback, and present ideas. The free plan is better for evaluation or modest work; active teams that need more than three editable boards will need to upgrade. Help is available through FAQs, guides, video tutorials, email, Discord, and Telegram.

Pros and cons

Pros: The infinite canvas combines diagramming, planning, collaboration, and presentation tools, so teams can develop and discuss visual work in one place.
Pros: Broad import and export formats and an SDK support workflows that extend beyond the whiteboard.
Pros: Self-hosted and cloud deployment options, alongside mobile and desktop platforms, suit varied organizational setups.
Cons: The free plan's three-board, 100-object-per-board, and 1 GB storage limits may quickly impede teams with several active projects.
Cons: AI use can send reference images or original documents to AI models, a consideration for sensitive material.
Cons: AI plans impose monthly per-seat credit quotas, so teams with sustained AI use may need to monitor consumption.

Alternatives

For a broader directory of options, browse Online Whiteboard Tools, AI Whiteboard Software, or Collaborative Whiteboard Software.

Miro is worth comparing if its free plan's 7,000+ templates and 250+ integrations matter more than Boardmix's listed combination of diagramming, presentation, and AI tools.
Creately may suit teams that prioritize unlimited free canvases and collaborators, though its free canvases cap at 45 items each.
Collaboard is an alternative if 200+ templates are more useful than Boardmix's AI and presentation features; its free plan allows 3 whiteboards and 5 participants per board.
Stormboard offers a free Personal plan for up to 5 members per Storm, with 20MB storage per user and 10 guests.
Webex App is a different option if the priority is free online meetings, capped at 40 minutes and 100 attendees per meeting.
Conceptboard has a free plan with 3 active boards, 100 objects per board, and 250 MB storage; it may fit teams that can work within those storage and board limits.
FigJam is worth considering for a free plan with 3 editable files and unlimited collaborators.
MURAL offers unlimited murals with 3 editable at a time, unlimited members and view-only visitors, and one workspace on its free plan.

Verdict

Choose Boardmix if your team wants one visual workspace for diagrams, planning, collaboration, presentations, and optional AI assistance, especially if self-hosted or cloud deployment flexibility matters. The main reasons to look elsewhere are the restrictive free-plan caps and the possibility that AI processing sends source documents or reference images to AI models.
