Overview

Bookamat brings studio bookings and administration together with member access to booking, payment and rescheduling through a mobile browser. Its Progressive Web App can optionally be installed on a phone or desktop home screen, so clients can get a more app-like entry point without requiring a conventional app installation.

The product is aimed at yoga, Pilates, barre, dance, fitness and other boutique studios, from independent teachers to multi-location businesses. Bookamat was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. Its founders built the first version after a Cape Town Pilates studio owner struggled with administrative work, a history that aligns with its focus on coordinating studio operations.

Key features

Scheduling and attendance

Online and desk bookings, calendar scheduling, class capacity controls, booking policies and waitlists cover the main workflow for managing a timetable. QR check-in and attendance tracking help studios record who turns up, while automated reminders can keep members informed. Recurring classes, instructor management and room scheduling extend the system beyond a simple booking calendar.

Payments and sales

Bookamat supports online payments through Stripe in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada, Square in Australia, or Paystack in South Africa. That regional spread is useful for studios operating in those markets, but a business elsewhere should confirm its payment route before choosing the system. Recurring memberships, class packs, credits, coupons, private sessions, gift cards, billing and invoicing support several ways to sell and manage studio services.

Integrations and multi-location operations

Google Calendar and Mailchimp sync, plus links for online and hybrid classes such as Zoom and Google Meet, connect Bookamat with common studio workflows. Unlimited venues on one subscription and reporting across the business make it a stronger fit for operators overseeing several locations than for a tool confined to one timetable.

Security and support

Bookamat describes safeguards including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, access controls, separated tenant data, backups, audit logs and secure development practices. Its privacy policy says it does not sell personal information. Customers receive personal email support from the product's builders, with priority support on Team and Growth; migration help can include importing a client list, with timing depending on the data and studio setup.

Pricing

Bookamat is freemium, with a free plan and a 14-day trial. Pricing counts clients who have at least one booking during the subscription month, not inactive clients, so the bill follows recent use rather than the full stored roster. SMS may cost separately.

Plan	Price and terms	What it suits
Free access	0.00 USD per free after the trial for studios with 10 or fewer active clients. Core studio-management features; usage-based SMS may cost separately.	Very small studios testing the service or staying within the active-client cap. The trade-off is the 10-client ceiling.
Solo	3.50 USD per month, billed USD $3.5 /active client after your first 10, up to $49/month. Up to 2 staff members, core studio features, all integrations and unlimited locations.	Small teams that want per-active-client pricing with a monthly cap. The two-seat limit makes it less suitable for a larger staff.
Team	68.60 USD per month, billed USD $68.60 /month at 35 active clients; from $59. Up to 5 staff members, core features, all integrations, unlimited locations, pay-as-you-grow pricing and priority support.	Studios with a small staff that need priority support and room to grow. It costs more than Solo and caps staff at five.
Growth	113.75 USD per month, billed USD $113.75 /month at 70 active clients; from $99. Unlimited staff members, core features, all integrations, unlimited locations, pay-as-you-grow pricing and priority support.	Larger or multi-location businesses that need unlimited staff seats and priority support; its higher starting price is difficult to justify for a small roster.

Platforms

Bookamat supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows and the web. Its mobile-browser member access and optional home-screen installation are useful for clients who want quick access without a conventional app install.

Who it's for

Bookamat is a sensible fit for boutique studios and independent teachers that need scheduling, attendance, memberships and payments in one system. Its unlimited-venue allowance and cross-business reporting particularly suit operators managing multiple locations. It is a weaker choice for businesses outside its supported payment regions unless their payment needs can be met another way, or for studios that need more staff seats than Solo or Team allow.

Pros and cons

Pros: Unlimited venues across plans make expansion across locations possible without a venue-based subscription limit.
Pros: The combination of bookings, sales, attendance and member self-service covers both studio administration and the client booking journey.
Pros: Active-client billing excludes clients without a booking that month, and Solo has a $49/month cap.
Cons: Solo and Team limit staff seats to two and five respectively; unlimited staff requires Growth.
Cons: Payment processing options are tied to specific countries, which can rule out Bookamat for studios elsewhere.
Cons: SMS may add a separate usage-based charge, so the plan price may not capture all messaging costs.

Alternatives

Consider WellnessLiving if its Starter plan's one-staff setup and annual $62.00 USD per month price suit your budget; it includes classes and appointments booking, an Achieve Client App, an Elevate Staff App, and POS. PushPress is worth comparing if you want a no-monthly-fee Free plan with unlimited leads, admins, members and staff, while accepting its listed card and ACH transaction fees.

The Studio Director is another option to compare for studios managing 0–100 students, with software-only and software-plus-payments plans at custom pricing. CourseDeck may suit a smaller web-based operation: its free Starter plan supports 25 active students, one location and one admin, with basic scheduling and manual attendance.

Class Manager is a free alternative with no monthly subscription and a flat service charge for online payments. Stepsi may appeal to a smaller member-based business seeking annual pricing: Plus is 30.00 EUR per year for up to 100 active members, while Grow is 60.00 EUR per year for up to 250.

Gymdesk offers a paid option at 75.00 USD per month for up to 50 members, while Arketa starts its Individual plan at 49.00 USD per month billed annually, with one team-member login and a 3% transaction fee plus Stripe fees.

Compare the broader class scheduling software and membership management software categories if Bookamat's studio focus or payment availability does not match your operation.

Verdict

Choose Bookamat if you run a boutique studio and want bookings, memberships, payments and multi-location reporting in one service, with a free entry point for a roster of 10 or fewer active clients. Look elsewhere if your payment region is unsupported, your team outgrows the seat limits on Solo or Team, or SMS charges make the expected monthly cost less predictable.
