Overview

Send Later, snoozing, and reminders help manage both outgoing messages and follow-ups, while Inbox Pause lets users defer incoming mail, including on a schedule. Magic Live Calendar adds meeting booking and team coordination, and Respondable offers real-time AI guidance on email effectiveness and tone. This combination makes Boomerang broader than a send-later utility, though users who need only occasional scheduling may not need the additional tools.

Key features

Email timing and tracking

Send Later schedules delivery, and reminders and snoozing bring messages back when they need attention. Inbox Pause can stop new messages from arriving until the user is ready. Open, reply, and click tracking, along with real-time alerts, help users monitor whether an email is receiving a response. These features suit active email workflows; Basic’s 10 message credits per month, however, are too restrictive for sustained frequent use.

Calendar and writing tools

Magic Live Calendar supports bookable schedules, suggested times, free/busy sharing, and team scheduling. Team scheduling works with Zoom and Google Meet and supports multiple calendars, which makes it useful for group coordination as well as personal booking. Respondable supplies real-time writing guidance, with Advanced Respondable reserved for Pro. Users who only want help writing messages may find the calendar and tracking breadth unnecessary.

Security and access

For Gmail, Boomerang uses Google OAuth 2.0 and says it does not have access to account passwords. It says it does not store message bodies, retaining only message headers to identify messages for sending or returning; Baydin says it completes SOC 2 Type II audits annually. Boomerang for Gmail is offered as an extension for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera. The product also supports Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows; mobile access is included in paid plans beginning with Personal.

Pricing

Basic is free and provides Gmail/G Suite, Send Later, and Boomerang Reminders, with 10 message credits per month. It is a low-commitment way to try the core timing tools, but the cap makes it a poor fit for regular email scheduling.

Personal costs 4.98 USD per month, billed annually. It raises the allowance to unlimited message credits and adds Gmail, iPhone and Android apps, and Notes. This is the practical step up for an individual who needs frequent scheduling and mobile access, but the annual billing term matters if flexibility is a priority.

Pro costs 14.98 USD per month, billed annually, and includes unlimited message credits, Gmail/G Suite, Advanced Respondable, Advanced Inbox Pause, and Recurring Messages. It fits users who need stronger writing guidance or more advanced inbox control. Premium costs 49.98 USD per month, billed annually, and adds Track by Default, Premium Support, and Salesforce/CRM Integration alongside unlimited credits and Gmail/G Suite. It is aimed at users who need default tracking or CRM integration, rather than those who only need personal email timing.

The Teams offering is presented for organizations, including sales, customer success, recruiting, and education, and lists priority email support; team scheduling also supports Zoom, Google Meet, and multiple calendars. It has custom pricing. Technical support is available by email at support@baydin.com. A 30-day trial is offered.

Platforms

Boomerang supports Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, and browser extensions. Its Gmail extension supports Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera. The service also lists Gmail and Outlook among its email client support options, while the named plans specify Gmail or Gmail/G Suite.

Who it's for

Boomerang is a strong fit for Gmail users who schedule messages, need follow-up reminders, or want to coordinate meetings without separating those tasks from email. Pro is more appropriate when advanced writing guidance, recurring messages, or advanced inbox pausing are important; Premium makes more sense for users who need default tracking and Salesforce/CRM integration. Teams with collaborative scheduling needs may consider the Teams offering, while occasional users can start with Basic if 10 monthly credits are enough.

Pros and cons

Pros: Scheduling, snoozing, reminders, and Inbox Pause cover both outgoing and incoming email timing.
Pros: Calendar booking, team scheduling, multiple calendars, and Zoom and Google Meet integration support meeting coordination.
Pros: Unlimited message credits begin with Personal, and paid plans include mobile access.
Cons: Basic is limited to 10 message credits per month, restricting its usefulness for frequent users.
Cons: Personal, Pro, and Premium prices are billed annually, which is a commitment for users seeking a month-to-month option.
Cons: Advanced Respondable and Advanced Inbox Pause require Pro, while default tracking and Salesforce/CRM integration require Premium.

Alternatives

Mailbutler Smart Assistant is another freemium choice with a free plan and support across Android, iOS, desktop platforms, web, and browser extensions; its Starter plan includes visible Mailbutler branding on sent emails, a trade-off to weigh if considering its free tier.

Mixmax may suit users focused on tracked emails or sequences: its Free plan allows 20 tracked emails per month and up to 50 sequence recipients per month. Yesware is worth comparing for basic open and attachment tracking, with 10 campaign recipients per month and a Meeting Scheduler on its free plan.

Mailcastr offers a free branded email-tracking plan with a web dashboard, push notifications, and Android and iOS apps, making it a focused alternative for tracking. RevenueGrid is a paid option whose Activity Capture 360 plan costs 30.00 USD per month and includes automated activity capture and real-time Salesforce integration; it may fit users prioritizing those CRM workflows.

LeadBoxer offers a free app plan with 25,000 credits per month, one user, one dataset, and one month of data retention, a different fit for users evaluating credit-based lead tools. Pointofmail is a paid alternative with a Silver plan at 13.99 USD per year, billed annually; compare its email allowance and sender-address terms before choosing it. Streak has a free plan with 50 mail merge sends per day and a Pro plan at 59.00 USD per month, useful to compare if mail merge volume is central to the decision.

Verdict

Choose Boomerang if you are a Gmail user who wants email timing, follow-up, meeting coordination, and writing guidance in one workflow, or a team that needs shared scheduling and tracking. The strongest reason to look elsewhere is cost structure: Basic’s 10 monthly credits are narrow, and regular use starts at an annually billed Personal plan. Users who need only tracking, mail merge, or a more specialized CRM workflow should compare the alternatives before committing.
