BS&A General Ledger vs RDA School District Suite

BS&A General Ledger is the central ledger in BS&A’s cloud-based Financial Management Suite, storing financial entries from other suite modules. Designed exclusively for local government, it supports GAAP fund accounting and governmental GASB reporting. Built-in GASB 34 reports allow adjustment entries in a separate Adjustments fund or a GASB 34 Adjustments area. Statistical reports calculate major and minor funds in summary or detailed formats and let users drill down to account balances. Budgeting includes spreadsheet imports, user-defined levels, projections, proposed reports, and what-if scenarios; it can draw employee longevity, grade, raise, and benefit projections from BS&A’s Human Resources module. Bank Reconciliation supports imported transactions, multiple accounts, pooled cash, and grouping by deposit. RDA School District Suite is cloud software for small K–12 school districts, combining financial, procurement, and workforce management. Financial management includes fund accounting, general ledger, bank reconciliation, fixed assets, inventory, and budgets. Procurement handles requisitions, purchase orders, vendor payments, and electronic documents. Workforce modules cover personnel, leave, employee applications, substitutes, absentee tracking, positions, payroll, and employee self-service. Built-in workflows, flexible reporting, filtered queries, role-based security, and secure portals support administrative work. The suite supports Excel integration and is described as compliant with GAAP and GASB. RDA says it runs in Google Cloud; its technical brief describes complete daily backups and recovery capabilities within hours after a ransomware attack.
