Overview

i-Vu combines monitoring, control, and optimization for HVAC and other building systems. Alongside HVAC control, it supports lighting control, alarm management, environmental monitoring, and access integration, making it a candidate for sites coordinating several building functions rather than HVAC alone.

Carrier describes i-Vu Pro as built on open BACnet standards, and i-Vu Express can integrate third-party systems such as lighting and metering. Those are useful foundations for a connected building, though the deployment’s licensing scope and applicable limits should be settled with an authorized integrator.

Key features

i-Vu Pro presents system data, schedules, alarms, and trends through a centralized browser interface accessible from web-enabled devices. Dashboards, reports, and trend visualization help operators review performance, while insight sharing supports coordination. Security updates and live system backups address ongoing maintenance needs.

With i-Vu Cloud, Carrier hosts the service on AWS and handles server maintenance, monitoring, database redundancy, backups, and software upgrades. BACnet Secure Connect, built-in redundancy, monitoring, and automated backups are part of the cloud security and continuity offering. This reduces the hosting burden for customers, but the cloud service does not provide alarm monitoring, alarm response, or dispatch; sites needing those services must arrange them separately.

For regulated life-sciences operations, i-Vu for Life Sciences provides change records, digitally signed reports, and audit-ready documentation aligned with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 expectations. Carrier also says its Global Product Security Program applies secure development practices aligned with commercially appropriate cybersecurity standards.

Pricing

i-Vu is paid software with custom pricing. The i-Vu® Pro 10.0 price and licensing scope are set through an accepted quote or agreement with an authorized integrator. Site, user, controller, or point limits may apply, so buyers should establish the relevant limits alongside the quote.

i-Vu® Cloud also has custom pricing: subscription scope and fees are set in an Order Form, and usage limits may apply. The on-premises license is for use in the customer’s own infrastructure; it is not a cloud or SaaS offering. The cloud subscription is the distinct hosted path, with Carrier handling hosting and upkeep. Neither option has a published price here, so compare the complete quoted scope and any limits before choosing.

Platforms

i-Vu supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows, as well as an API. The browser-based i-Vu Pro interface is designed for access from web-enabled devices.

Who it's for

i-Vu is a strong fit for facilities teams coordinating HVAC with lighting, metering, environmental monitoring, alarms, or access-related systems, especially where BACnet is a suitable foundation. The Life Sciences offering makes it relevant to organizations that need change records and digitally signed, audit-ready reports. Buyers looking for a hosted service should be comfortable handling alarm response and dispatch outside the BAS cloud service; those requiring Carrier-provided response or dispatch should look elsewhere or make separate arrangements.

Pros and cons

Broad building-system scope: HVAC and lighting control, alarm management, environmental monitoring, and access integration support a more unified operational view.
Choice of hosting model: customers can license on-premises software for their own infrastructure or use AWS-hosted i-Vu Cloud with maintenance, backups, monitoring, and upgrades.
Specialized Life Sciences documentation: change records, digitally signed reports, and audit-ready documentation address a distinct regulated-industry need.
Custom scope complicates budgeting: both plans are custom-priced, and site, user, controller, point, or usage limits may affect the final fit.
Cloud service stops short of alarm response: monitoring, response, and dispatch are excluded, which matters for operators expecting a hosted BAS service to cover incident handling.

Alternatives

For a broader shortlist, see Building Management Software. Delta Controls enteliWEB is worth comparing if stated I/O tiers help frame a deployment: its eW200 covers 200 I/O and multiple sites, while eW1000 covers 1000 I/O; editions and add-ons include a one-year software maintenance subscription.

Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Operation, Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator, LOYTEC LWEB-900, Siemens Building X, Switch Automation, Automated Logic WebCTRL, and SAUTER Vision Center are other options to compare.

Verdict

Choose Carrier i-Vu if your facilities team needs centralized oversight across HVAC and connected building systems, values a BACnet-based approach, and wants either customer-hosted software or managed AWS hosting. The Life Sciences documentation is a meaningful reason to consider it for regulated operations. Look elsewhere if you need alarm response and dispatch included with cloud BAS service, or if an unquoted, potentially limited licensing scope makes budgeting difficult.
