Overview

Churchsoft Assist 2026 brings church administration and ministry tools together, making it a strong candidate for congregations that want one system for membership, finances, payroll, and communication. Its breadth is a clear advantage for churches consolidating several tasks, but the choice between desktop and online deployment—and the cost of training—deserves attention.

Key features

Alongside membership and contributions, Assist includes fund accounting, payroll, and tools for counseling, Sunday school, visitor tracking, facility scheduling, library and media, prayer, outreach, volunteers, and a church directory. Staff can send SMS and email to individuals or groups. That range will matter to churches coordinating both administration and ministry activity; organizations needing only bookkeeping or donor records may be better served by a narrower product.

Churchsoft says there is no additional charge based on the number of people or groups, and registered software can hold unlimited records. Support staff will also transfer people from an existing system or Excel at no additional cost. Together, those terms suit growing congregations and can reduce the burden of moving membership records.

Giving features cover gift entry, donor reports, and year-end donor statements. Accounting includes fund accounting, budgets, and income and expense reports by account, account group, or fund. These are useful capabilities for churches tracking finances across funds, rather than only recording general income and expenses.

Payroll handles employees, self-employed contractors, and nonemployees, with reports including 941, W-2, W-3, and 1099 forms. Churches with mixed worker types may value keeping payroll alongside the other administrative functions; those with specialized payroll needs should weigh that convenience against their requirements.

Pricing

The current product page describes one low price but gives no numeric amount, so the cost of Assist itself is custom pricing. A 30-day money-back guarantee applies to the church management software. Each software purchase includes 60 days of free unlimited support.

Churchsoft also offers optional support plans:

Premier Support Plan: 30.00 USD per month for unlimited email support, unlimited toll-free sessions, database table service, free updates, and remote desktop assistance. It suits churches that want ongoing help and updates.
Premium Support Plan: 35.00 USD per month, adding network support and priority callback to Premier features. It is the more relevant tier for churches using networked desktop access that want faster callbacks.
Platinum Support Plan: 45.00 USD per month, with network support, immediate callback, and after-hours support by appointment, alongside the listed email, toll-free, database, update, and remote assistance services. The premium is most useful when support availability is a priority.

The online subscription includes unlimited toll-free support, data backup, and software updates. Training is offered by phone, conference call, PC-to-PC, or onsite; onsite training costs $400 per day plus travel expenses. Churches should include training in their deployment budget if staff need in-person instruction.

Platforms

Assist is offered as desktop software and an online version. Desktop runs on Windows 8 and later, with Windows 10 and later recommended; its networkable design supports concurrent use. That makes it a reasonable fit for churches with compatible Windows systems, but less suitable for teams whose computers do not meet the requirements.

Assist Online works from any device with an internet connection, and Churchsoft identifies Mac, PC, Android, and iOS as ready. The maker describes the service as multi-platform. Online data is backed up with triple redundancy in a military-grade data center, while module-level protection and full or restricted user rights provide ways to control access.

Who it's for

Assist is best suited to churches that want membership, giving, accounting, payroll, and communications under one roof, especially when people and group counts may grow. The choice is less compelling for a church seeking only a single financial tool or one that cannot accommodate the desktop requirements and does not want an online subscription.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unlimited people, groups, and registered records support congregations of different sizes without a per-person charge.
Pro: Free transfer of people from a prior system or Excel can ease migration.
Pro: Fund-based reporting, budgeting, giving, and multi-type payroll cover several church administration needs in one product.
Con: The product price is custom pricing, so churches cannot compare its software cost from a stated numeric price.
Con: Desktop use requires Windows 8 or later, with Windows 10 or later recommended; onsite training also adds $400 per day plus travel.

Alternatives

For a free starting point focused on budgeting, MoneyMinder offers a free edition with budgeting tools, a custom chart of accounts, budget forecasting, and Excel export. It is a better fit when those functions are enough and a free plan matters more than Assist's broader church administration scope.

Church Windows is another paid church software option, with a desktop standard plan at 19.00 USD per month for one module, monthly billing on a 12-month contract, and standard support. Consider it when a single desktop module at a stated monthly price is a closer fit.

For a club or membership organization, Clubtreasurer starts with an Essentials plan at 7.00 GBP per year, including three user accounts; membership management is sold separately. Its narrower club-oriented setup may suit groups that do not need Assist's church-specific tools.

Grain Ledger has a free Starter plan for up to $20k in monthly expenses, one bank connection, three users, unlimited funds, and one active budget. It is worth considering when fund accounting is the priority and those limits fit.

NP Ledger offers a Starter plan at 289.00 USD per year for smaller nonprofits, with two users per organization, Form 990-N/990-EZ, and 1099 contractor tracking. It may suit nonprofits focused on accounting and tax reporting rather than church administration.

Tangicloud Fundamentals starts at 180.00 USD per user per year and includes Microsoft hosting, database, and service. Its per-user pricing may work for organizations that prefer that model over Assist's same-price approach regardless of congregation size.

FastFund Accounting offers a web-based Standard plan at 50.00 USD per month with cash- and fund-based accounting, budgeting, and project tracking. It is a better match when those nonprofit accounting functions, rather than church management, are the core requirement.

Fund EZ is another option to compare for fund accounting.

Verdict

Churchsoft Assist 2026 is a sensible choice for churches that want membership, giving, fund accounting, payroll, and communication in one system without per-person or per-group charges. Its main drawback is the custom product price, with desktop compatibility and training costs also worth checking before committing. Choose Assist if its broad church focus fits; look elsewhere if you need a clearly priced, narrower accounting product.
