In their own words

Citrus

Citrus is a free integration-test framework for messaging applications and microservices. It can make a test act as both client and server across messaging interfaces, send and sequence messages, and validate payloads and other elements. Supported endpoints include HTTP, Kafka, JMS, Apache Camel, mail, FTP/SFTP, OpenAPI, SOAP, Docker, Kubernetes, Knative, SQL, and SSH. Validation covers JSON and XML, XML schemas, DTDs, and database data. Test cases can use loops, delays, retries, parallel sections, and timeouts. Tests are written in Java, XML, YAML, or Cucumber BDD features. Citrus integrates with JUnit 5, Cucumber, JBang, Quarkus, Spring Boot, TestNG, and JUnit 4, with Maven and Gradle setup guidance. It runs on Linux and requires Java 17 or newer since version 4.0. Citrus is Apache-licensed freeware for testing commercial applications.

Keploy

Keploy turns real application traffic into API tests and dependency sandboxes for local work, continuous integration, and Kubernetes verification. It captures incoming requests and outgoing dependency calls with eBPF and network interception, without application code changes, then replays recordings as regression tests with mocks and isolation. Playground can generate API tests from OpenAPI or Postman inputs, while AI expands edge cases. Listed support covers HTTP(S), HTTP/2, gRPC, Protobuf, GraphQL, Kafka, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, Postgres, and RDS. GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, and Argo are listed CI/CD integrations. A Chrome extension captures XHR and fetch traffic, including headers, cookies, and authentication context, exporting cURL, JSON, or Keploy YAML. The core local record-and-replay platform is open source under Apache 2.0. Plans include free Open Source and Playground tiers, Pro at $19 a month, and Enterprise with discussion-based pricing.
